There's an even easier way, now. Just download the ISO and install it. Make sure you have your Product Key, just in case (from your current system), but I didn't have to replace mine (and you should make sure you have it, regardless).

That didn't work for me, but downloading from here worked straight away.

Still curious, anyone know if it's safe to delete the windows.old folder that was created when I upgraded to Win10?

I do have a disk image from before I upgraded, if that makes any difference.

If you're not sure, transfer it to a flash drive or burn it to a DVD or Blu-ray, depending on the size. Keeping it is simply you deciding whether you have everything you need currently, and whether it all came through the change without getting damaged.

I remember this feeling, it's similar to when I upgraded from XP to 7. I haven't upgraded to 10, mostly because I'm thinking about what could break if I did. Videogames being the big one.

Plus it feels like I would have to make a day of it and I'm too lazy to do that.

But to those that have, what's it feel and seem like? Personally I think 7 is awesome and I'd like for 10 to be as close as possible.

Windows 10 is quite great thus far, you need to get used to some new things (control panel is renamed settings which confused me for a while) but overall it's good.

Had a lot of problems with my Nvidia drivers though, had to revert to windows 8.1 and update to the latest ones there since they didn't want to install in windows 10. So if you have an Nvidia card, download the latest drivers :)

No part of the system has made me go "wow" yet, but I guess it's mostly improvements in the infrastructure.

I've been wanting to upgrade, but the upgrade keeps failing even after troubleshooting and going through a few time-consuming steps. So I'll probably just stick with 8.1

Anyone knows how Windows 10 would accept being on a dual-boot system with Linux? My laptop has Ubuntu and Win7 currently installed.

    Try this.

You can either load straight from it, or create an ISO and load from the ISO. I had problems on my tablet, so I loaded from the iso as a straight download. I took me a try or two, but it worked. For most, it's working on their first shot.

Also, there's a regedit you can make to force the download as well, but as you probably know, it's better to try anything else before messing with the registry, unless you are very clear what you're doing.

So I've come across an annoying glitch in Windows 10, anytime I launch Guild Wars 2 I get a loud, irritating burst of static before the game's sound continues as it should.

Any ideas on how to fix it?

It installed just fine on my dualboot laptop, didn't wipe out the bootloader or anything.

Faster, and the Edge browser is a lot faster than Firefox has been lately.

Had some issues with it personally. Did an upgrade from 8.1 to 10. Currently there are two annoying bugs to do with the start menu (and Cortana):

The first less serious one is that they don't open when you click on them, googled some solutions, but the only one that worked temporarily for me was to change into tablet mode and back.

The more debilitating one is an error message popping up saying something along the lines of:
"Critical Error: Start Menu and Cortana not working, sign out now to try and fix it"
Which pretty much only lets you sign out - and signing in again or restarting doesn't seem to fix it.

The work around for the second seems to be to try to just create a new user temporarily whilst they fix the issue, or to do everything in safe mode.

Okay, I've got a SSD with Zorin OS on it which I want to use for a clean install of Win 10, how would I go about doing that?

Just go here and download the tool and choose "Make Media", put it on a USB or something, and then install it.

I've tried to use the .iso and the setup.exe from the USB, but I don't know how to boot from USB on Zorin. Google just tells me to to boot Zorin from USB.

Edit: Nevermind, I may have got it with pressing f12 to get to bios and boot from usb.

Okay, so I have another laptop(laptop#2) running an invalid cd-key, will laptop#1's old cd-key work to validate laptop#2 now that I've got a clean install of win 10 on laptop#1?

I feel as if it might not, but I thought I'd ask to be sure. Both are/were 8.1 with bing.

I think the key will be registered as already used, but worth a try.
