Fledglings by Lord Retro - A humorous one-shot. It's probably what any H/Hedwig story should be: A comedy. It could and should have had more chapters, but that probably would have ruined it anyway, so... whatever. It's probably the first and almost certainly the last H/Hedwig you'll read that could be described as 'good.'

A Lonely Summer by Naga's Shadow - Smut. What? Smut. It links back to DLP's Mature Work by Author board, so you may go to Hell if you read it.

More Than Familiar by Grenouille7777 - Probably one of the more infamous examples. Here's that Dumbledore bashing you mentioned. Tries to mix a bit of H/Hr/Hedwig smut with 'serious business' and ends up being a more or less typical not-so-indie Harry (with all that entails). Also, it's unfinished and hasn't updated since 2010.

A Promise From Her Boy by PsychoCellist - The one Atram Noctem mentioned. It's okay, if you're tired of feeling good and not contemplating the inevitability of death. Serious business, canon epilogue compliant.

This is purely speculative, I'm not saying she's best girl, nor admitting that I'm biased in any way.

 

Well, Luna's not hot, but she is pretty. She's smart (in Ravenclaw and is able to point the way to the Diadem in a way none of the other characters anticipated), not a cunt, not pushy, and not taken. (Although I take issue with the claim that Hermione is a cunt or that Ginny is pushy.) Plus Harry and Luna can actually stay in contact throughout the year, which isn't a possibility with Harry/Fleur.

 

I'd also like to add someone who is pure. I don't want Harry getting someone else's sloppy seconds or stds.

 

I'm all for not dating promiscuous girls, if that's your preference (it's definitely mine), but pure as a prerequisite?

I would argue that sloppy seconds -as infantile as people who use that phrase often are- actually is a thing... if the ex in question is odious enough.

If I were Harry, I think life would be much more fulfilling, on a day to day basis, if I didn't have to put up with Draco passing me at the Ministry or in Diagon and saying "I had your wife." every time, with a detestable smirk on his smug little rat face.
