Even more so, JBern is a published author, and it seems like suicide to plagiarist that sort of dude's work. He's bound to know what kind of recourse he can take.

He most definitely does not have permission from JBern. He may barely be active in FF (he still owes us that sequel) but back when he was writing "To Fight The Coming Darkness" he had someone steal his work and he went ballistic, FF.net never used to take it seriously and it used to piss everyone off.

If we wanted to catch him, we could lock down WBA to new accounts and make small semi-random changes to the story text. Only problem is that the changes might show up in quotations and authors want readers to be critiquing their stories.

Definitely Not Taure they're using your real name now. Must be Alexxx; I'd say he's butthurt after you outed his most recent return.

The account just bit the dust.

Thanks goes to all the original authors who sent the DMCA takedown notices. I've reported the guy several times without much impact, the DMCA takedown really gets it on top of the admins' priority list.

I don't know if it's been said yet, but thank you for your time and effort Mkis. I for one really appreciate it, and I believe all the inactive writers who've been plagiarized would be thankful for what you've done as well.

Well, although I'm glad to see that one account gone, likely this'll still go on for a while on FFN. Based on the activity over the last couple of days we probably have to work over at FFN to get each and every single one of the remaining accounts shut down. There are some people who seriously are in need of a ban from the entire internet...

The troll seems to be excessively obsessed in stealing Harry Potter and The Blood Rose by vlad. Have seen probably two dozen uploads of that within the past couple of months. That might ring a bell over here.

In addition to claimed permissions (which was proven nonexistent in jbern's case), the thief has been "adopting abandoned stories" or in a poor attempt to mislead created usernames, which resemble so closely the aliases of certain original authors that we've been reporting those as ID thefts.

Troll accounts we currently are aware of are listed in all related threads (including the one previously linked here). Since there are many FFN users over here: if there are any new findings, new accounts or story submissions we might not yet be aware of, feel free to PM me or contact any mod at TAPIR and we'll take it forward.

Hopefully restricting WBA will solve the issue on this site and for the people involved. I'll let you know if it seems that stories are still stolen from DLP.

I'd say restrict WBA based on post count? Surely somebody who has invested time and effort here in DLP would not risk to lose all that by being banned forever just for the sake of trolling.

So, I'm a lurker who's rather annoyed(even if I understand and respect the reasons completely) to have been been banned from the WbA thanks to this asshole, and can't help but wonder if this lurker-attack is seriously going to make a difference. He seems persistent, so I imagine that he'll just post a few times and get re-access to WbA.

That's essentially the same concern I have and the same situation I'm in.

As you can see by my sig, this is just a new account that I made to lurk and read with, and even the previous account that got lost to the annals of time was a lurker account (don't recall if I ever posted, but if I did, it was at most like 5 times).

I'm willing to find a few threads that I can actually contribute to in order to regain access to the WBA section, but I'm also rather wary that any plagiarist would also be willing to do so (or may have already archived a ton of stories and may no longer even need said access). And if those FFN reposts continue, I'm not too optimistic that the criteria for entry to the WBA won't become increasingly stringent, yet succeed only in discouraging the genuine readers while the clearly-persistent plagiarist (a trait that has been proven again and again) will continue to do what he wants.

Considering that, in true elitist manner, the very smartest people on this board sit at the very top, we are aware of what works how and why. The issue is being dealt with on more than one level.

This thread is the plagiarism notice thread. Feel free to use it to notice forum authors about plagiarism.

From the title, I thought this thread was going to be about stuff like the Cassie Claire debacle and that sort of crap. Imagine my surprise.

Looks like Joe's new story has been plagiarized.

They also created a new account using his name.

    I reported it to fanfiction.net.

That's confirmed the same troll/thief as before. Review with caution, since they are known to harass other authors calling out the plagiarism.

    Thanks, stewiethegangster.

What happened, DLP? You used to be a safe haven of love and support? Where a man could shrug out of his boots, crack open a bottle of whisky, and shoot the shit as the sun set on the vast, golden fields of quality fanfiction.

Wait, no - you were never that. Well, never only that. You are vengeful and unforgiving. Now that this issue has personally affected me I demand blood! Blood!

Edit: And on my birthday, as well! For shame, plagiarist.

Edit 2: Looks like it's been taken down. Win for the good guys.

Well I left a pretty scathing review but that won't do anything really. Can't find a report button on the mobile site.

The fact that he's using your name is funny though. He's basically putting your stuff up on FF.net so you don't have to.

Like a secretary. What you do to secretaries?

You fuck them in the ass.
