SKT failing to coordinate a 5-man icon bm vs EDG. Worrying trend for Korean teams.

 

Pulled this gem from the Korea Caster translation thread on reddit (where someone is roughly translating random shit the korean casting team says during the games)

So we have the Gnar to counter Darius in lane, and the Renekton to counter Darius in teamfights (and in lane). Renekton shut down Darius so fucking hard that AmazingJ might be pregnant.

 

I really wouldn't say Renekton counters Darius in teamfights. Marin just got so fed he shit on Darius and didn't let him do anything. Origen's comp today was how you make a darius useless in teamfights. Lulu speed ups and Anivia kiting/zone control. If Darius keeps getting picked I expect to see a lot more Azirs, Anivias and Oriannas in the midlane. Maybe even something like a zyra support.

 

Darius functions as an all in champ- he runs in at you, and doesnt let you get away. Either you stay next to him and take less damage from his q (and run the much higher risk of 5 stacks+DUNK), or run away from him, take more damage from q, and then get pulled back in and slowed and get stuck next to him anyway.

But once he's in, he can't really get away. He can slow the person attacking him, but thats on a long cd.

So if Darius dives onto Renekton, Renekton stuns his Q animation, does constant aoe damage with his ult (which also boosts his max health, which can keep him out of dunk range), has his OWN aoe q that heals him (but i think a much lesser amount), and instead of a pull in he has slice and dice, which can be used to chase, to escape, or to aoe reduce armor on the enemy team if you dont care about chasing/escaping.

You dive into Renekton, you get stunned. Darius, J4, and Ekko all dive in (and Kalista throws annie in, huehuehue), and Renekton can stop Darius's bleed stacking, Ekko's Burst/escape, and doesn't care if J4 Ults him becuase he can dive right out of it.

It was a great counter pick, and I would not be surprised if Balls and Dyrus give up on Darius for the Renekton or Gnar next game they play.

Interesting from that, Darius actually has a positive win rate at the tournament so far, despite everyone shitting on the pick at the moment. While Gnar, who supposedly counter him, has a shitty win rate (2-7)

 

for reals, as one of those people who have been not happy with Darius, that is definitely interesting (Gnar is 2-3 vs Darius).

I'm not sure what that means, if Darius doesn't need to do well in lane to be effective later, or if theres other causes for Gnar being ineffective here (like the rest of Darius's team carrying hard, Gnar not working well with his team comp, the Darius player just being better then the Gnar player, etc.), or even if it looks like the Gnar is shutting the Darius down early, he really isn't?

 

I am actually really hype for the C9 vs Fnatic game, which I totally wasn't expecting coming into Worlds.

 

You honestly can't judge the effectiveness of the Darius/Gnar picks based on their win ratios in the tournament so far. There are many other factors that decide those games.

Gnars have mostly had good showings so far, with good ultis, zoning and laning. Darius' have between okay to terrible showing. There's obviously more at play here that decides the games than the champs' influences alone.

 

Not sure why people are surprised at Fnatic's loss.

I mean sure, they're good, but AHQ just unbenched the kench and there's nothing you can do against that.

 

Literally no counter play. Just like Soraka. Please nerf.
