Why not? What's so special about Hermione? For that matter, how do you judge if someone 'deserves' someone else? People are not items, to be rewarded or taken away. They love who they do.

My main hatred for Ron is for betraying Harry when he most needed him and jelous streaks he regularly has on Harry. And Hermione the smartest witch of her generation deserves better than someone who hurts deliberately by going out with Lavender and rubbing it in her face. Viktor Krum would be better for her as he respects and is a gentle man. Look Ron is just the Gryffindor Malfoy just as prejudiced against Slytherins.
