My take on it is that he went back, saved his mother. Returned to future and realizes that the original future, where his mother dies is better. So he has to go back in time again to stop himself from changing it. In total there are 4 Barry's in the room.

 

Well Jay Garrick at a minimum is going to pop up again given his hat showing up and the hints from the actors.

 

I can buy the original Flash. But that's about it. No more. Not for a few more seasons at least.

It's why I avoid time-travel fics and shows like the plague. Sadly, I wasn't much of a comic fan growing up so I didn't know Flash was a time-travel story until it got into the series a bit. And, as my wife and I have been watching Arrow, it helps to watch both series.

Caveat: if the story has timetravel as a single event that cannot be duplicated, and history begins to change course without the "I hope to get back to my people and my time" theme that causes so many discrepancies, I don't mind it. But that often comes across more as alt. history fiction with some modern stuff tossed in.

It seems like everyone in Central City has superpowers by now. Also looks like there's going to be multiple Flashes in this season. This is just getting more confusing.

 

What's the relationship going to be, with the second season of this and the crossover show with Arrow? Is it in the same continuity or is the other one an alternate timeline or something?

 

It should be set in the same universe considering the Legends of Tomorrow trailer had Flash and Arrow together.

 

Last I heard Arrow, Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Vixen are all going to be permanently tied together in the same timeline. However they wont affect each other to a huge degree. If anything earth shattering happens in any of the shows then it will affect all of them but the minutia wont mean a thing.

 

Not really convinced by Barry's dad leaving. Should make for less drama, though, which is a plus.
Good episode, otherwise. Hope this season is as good as the first.

 

I kind of get it. I mean, Barry is stretched pretty thin as it is. Even when watching the show we've noticed how his police work seems to take up less and less focus, and it's a safe bet that even within the show he's already stressed from leading this double life. Adding Henry to the mix just puts in a third demand on his time, one that will always take precedence. Especially if you listen to the kind of things Barry was looking to do - moving in together, starting up Henry's practice again, those are all the kinds of things Barry would get heavily involved in, at the expense of the other parts of his life. Obviously Henry feels that Barry being the Flash is more important.

I do think it was a little rushed, though. As in, he should have stayed for a couple of days, doing all the dad-son things the two missed out on, before leaving. Just for Barry's sake. Although a clean break like this might help Barry get back to his routine as quickly as possible.

 

It was a decent enough episode, I suppose. The villain was pure fail, rock stupid, falling in the most obvious trap in the world, I didn't care much for Barry's "I must be alone" phase, which is always dumb and I honestly already miss Wells, who was one of the three pillars of the show for me, the other two being Cisco and Caitlyn. Am glad that they didn't bench Caitlyn, kinda feared they would turn her into a villain who blames Barry.

 

Who else expected Wells' message to self-delete before he got it to the cops?

Not a great season opener. The angst had no place being here because Ronnie shouldn't have 'died' in the first place. Why couldn't Barry snatch both of them on the way down? Just run faster to catch the spare, Allen!

Did not like the villain. Slight hype for Jay, Zoom.

 

Kind of a meh episode really. Especially so as it was a season premiere. The villain reminded me of Juggernaut, which was kind of off-putting, and his CGI was pretty bad. Also, has Barry not faced enough foes with super strength yet? Seems like the go to villain, and one he has way more trouble with than he should.

Also agree that Ronnie dying was forced and Henry leaving rushed. That said, I'll still watch Flash and my interest is piqued by Jay and his world ending crisis, though it might perhaps be too soon and too similar for a speedster to return to the past.

 

I wonder why no one slapped Barry for thinking he was the only one with the right to risk his life for others.

I'm glad that shit is out of the way though.

Episode was underwhelming.

I like Cisco working for the cops but I don't buy that he would be the only one working on this things in the city. Everybody knows freaky things are happening so isn't there an entire dedicated science section or something.

It would have been more plausible if Mercury labs(where Cat works) was the one doing things.


Also, I don't buy Barry just letting his life obsession just walking away after getting it. They should have saved it for at least a week or two.

 

Well unless I missed something rather large its not like Barry just missed him and Ronnie splatted somewhere in the city, when they split the Professor fell and Barry managed to grab him but Ronnie was trapped in the singularity.

Agreed the villain sucked though.

Honestly pleasantly surprised with the rest of it though, Barry starts to think he should be alone? He gets bitch slapped around a warehouse and that shit is over in one episode. Ronnie dies right when he gets back together with Caitlin leaving the way for her to turn on Barry and go darkside? Doesnt even slightly blame him, they have a sweet conversation and are still good friends. Dad is free and nothing goes wrong with it. I was very happy with the majority of the episode and I know its overplayed but I love the song they played at the end so that helped.

 

Good enough episode, if a little underwhelming for season opener. The only interesting thing about the villain is the fact that apparently, he died? It seems like he did, but I'm not sure.

I liked Henry bits. I'm sick of seeing Caitlyn sad. Like, that was literally her role in season 1. Come on.

I think Wells' absence will be felt in the quality of the show, unless they somehow bring him back (I mean the actor, not just the character of Eobard).

 

So did Team Flash kill Atom Smasher or what...

 

The episode was good, but Wells presence is sorely missed. Joe's '"Run, Barry, run,' just wasn't the same.

I do like how Caitlin doesn't blame Barry at all. The Team Flash friendship was one of my favorite parts of season one and I'm glad it hasn't suffered.

 

I'm going to have to say yes. Which is pretty damn dark of them, considering the efforts they were planning to take to prevent the meta's in storage from getting nuked toward the end of S1.
