IIRC Cavanagh has confirmed that he will be a regular for season 2, so I wouldn't count out Wells just yet.

 

My current guess is that an alternate reality Wells is going to put in an appearance since we've flung that door wide open.

Show was decent. I like that they ended the father-drama. I also like that they didn't put Barry and Iris together right away. In fact, I'd rather see him with Caitlyn. Cisco's character is getting annoying, however.

I hope they have the show planned out long-term, because if they don't, I fear it'll go the way of Heroes.

 

Here is me hoping that Wells will retain his character of the first season and not be drastically different, seeing that it won't be Thorne in control.

 

I think they set up some of that with the statement about how some of Wells bled into Thawne, which would allow for Wells to be his own person (especially if he's had his wife) while sometimes letting parts of the familiar Wells they knew come through, freaking them all out - they think he's channelling Thawne, when in fact what they remember was simply Thawne channelling Wells.

 

Pretty good opener,if not particulary overwhelming.Too much angst for my taste though.

 

A lot happened in the episode and it was a pretty good opening for the season. I'm hoping that they get the Wells from an alternate universe, to me he was one of the best characters in the series. Although I have to say that the villain was pretty boring.

So, watching the show last night, I make the comment to my wife. "He should kiss Caitlyn, then he should kiss Iris. Then the three of them should get it on with each other."

Wife rolled her eyes, and I pumped my fist in victory at getting a reaction out of her.

Thinking more about that scene (don't remember which one it was that made me say that), does anyone suspect a love triangle (not a three-way, an old-fashioned love triange) between them?

 

Nah. My hopes for a Barry/Caitlyn thing have flown out of the window. If for no other reason than they won't kill off Firestorm so soon and in such a fashion,and if nothing else Caitlyn has proven that she just can't let anything go.

Why? I don't think she's that bad of a character. A bit naive, maybe, but not that bad of a character. Actually, I think she's a lot better than Cisco. Unfortunately, Cisco fills a more important role in the show than Iris.

... no? That's not what I'm referring to at all. Cisco is a great, likable and relevant character. Iris is none of those things.

Maybe season 1 is a little foggy in your mind.

 

I don't hate Iris and I don't see why anyone would, however, it is true that her position in season 1 and all teh story lines connecting to her were terrible and pretty much the worst thing about the show.

Why they decided to exclude Iris from everything, stubbornly stuck to the godawful Clark Kent/Superman bullshit and forced her into this stupid romance triangle thing I will never understand.

Of course, after having nothing to do with the cast, only existing in the periphery, being in the dark about everything and then have her at the end of the season with the rest of the team and pretend like she is one of them is galling, because she wasn't.

I don't hate Iris, I hope to like her in this season, once the writers make her a part of the main cast, but they handled her terribly in season 1. None of their decisions worked, I honestly don't understand why they decided to do that.

 

If Iris had been more involved in the flash's life as the flash, if she hadn't been saddled with the obligatory I love the costume him and all the other tropes that she was I think we'd feel differently about her, sure. I totally agree that it was a bit weird to have her so peppy and with them in the start to the season.

I hope that the angst doesn't get too much. Grief would be fine, but this self-flagellation - that seems to have become a prerequisite for any given superhero - is grating.

I'm most excited about the multi-universal stuff and the hope that we may have more Wells. Atom smasher's cg was seriously weak, when you compared it to the singularity stuff.

Also - ronnies face when he was flying, at one point he looked about as good as the macho man randy savage skyrim dragons :/

 

Maybe not a triangle since there doesn't seem to be any competitiveness between Iris and Caitlin but there's something there. That scene where the shapeshifter pretended to be Barry and kissed Caitlin, she might have been surprised at first but she was definitely into it.

 

I think maybe you misread my post.

I was saying that Cisco is relevant, but he's also annoying. His immature outbursts and fascination with naming villains comes across heavy handed and badly acted. I'm not saying it couldn't have been done right, just that it wasn't done right.

On the opposite end, I find Iris has been acted very well and the writers have had a good touch with her character. The problem is, I find her character pretty useless in the storyline.

I disagree with this. Literally all of it. I actually think the exact opposite of this.

Show opener was decent, dealt with the fallout fairly well. Meta of the Week was whatever. Barry's Father scene was rushed but it fits the character arc he's had throughout Season 1, having Barry let go of the past and live up to his potential. Garrick playing Team Flash off of Zoom is probably too optimistic but could be exciting. And Ronnie didn't die, he got portalled to Earth Bet or whatever we're calling it just watch.

 

I know you're most likely right about Ronnie but I really hope not, the whole he's dead and then he's not is already tiresome. I have no interest in seeing him pop up again.

 

Funny how two people can see the same thing and have vastly different interpretations. The funny thing is, there's times I really liked what he did, like at the end of last year as he's coming to terms with his memories of things that didn't happen. Then, there's times (every time he names a villain) I literally cringe watching it.

 

Legends of tomorrow seems to have some other guy being Firestorm in tandem with Stein, so I think it's a good bet Ronnie's dead.
