Ah, that's why it looked so familiar. It makes me wonder what the artists were thinking about when they were drawing these.

Though I gotta say the Hagrid's hut looks amazing.

The way ghosts are portrayed has me salivating to see the deathday party in Chamber of Secrets.

So it turns out my dad had the same idea of ordering this for me. Now I have two of them.

Came today, it looks pretty great. It's nice and large and there are more pictures than I expected. The only picture I don't like is the one from the end of term feast, because the faces look weird.

    Big fan of Dumbledore:

That Dumbledore looks exactly how he should! Very nice books indeed.

My old HP books are starting to fall apart.

This is a perfect chance to get a matching series that still has covers :p

    TO THE BOOKSTORE! afterwork...

Got my copy today, but it got messed up either in shipping or at Amazon's warehouse:

Since the damage is pretty severe — the page warping and ripping goes through the last sixty or so pages — I'm getting a replacement. But that replacement isn't coming until the middle of November, so I'm a little annoyed.

EDIT: More double-posting shenanigans. What is up with that?

Shit dude, did someone use your book as a murder instrument or something?

Oh yeah, I thought that the splatter marks were meant to be there at first, as part of the illustrations. But then the page appears to be talking about every-flavoured beans and not murderous psychopaths, and the back cover has stains as well.

Doesn't look like blood, though - not brown enough?

You know, everyone I've shown that picture keeps saying it must have been a murder weapon. But no, I'm pretty sure those splatter marks are meant to be there. There's "paint splatter" on pages throughout the book. This page is the one where the Gryffindors win the House Cup, and there's other splatter not shown in the pics of red and yellow paint to represent that.

The art is gorgeous and deserving of appreciation on its own merit. But I agree with ErotiS when I say I prefer the imagination to reign first, and the artwork to compare second.

My copies of PS, CoS, PoA and GoF are all from 2002 and were were already falling apart back in 2011 or so. I had custom covers made for the first six because of that. Besides, I have the series in Polish and only DH in English.

Well, I know what I want for my next birthday.

My problem is I have so many books already that I've started getting everything electronically. Illustrated books on a computer or tablet just doesn't have the same appeal, IMO.

I have the New Bloomsbury Covers that I got last year. The third and sixth book covers look the best, imo. I'll pass them down to my sister once I graduate and/or get the illustrated edition. It's time for her to start the journey as well :D

The covers look really awesome but I can´t get over the fact that Harry looks like a 8 year old girl in all of them

Yeah, I suppose. But Dumbledore in the HBP cover alone makes it worth buying. Not to mention the epic patronus in the PoA cover.

That Horntail totally reminds me of something out of Monster Hunter, y'know? I agree with you on Dumbledore though. Huh. Hogwarts also reminds me a little too much of the Burrow.

Yeah, I always imagined Hogwarts being a bit more wider than that. Ah, I remember playing the HBP video game. While the game itself wasn't that great, I loved the Hogwarts map in it. I spent hours on that game, just running around Hogwarts and enjoying the view :D
