The cast would have to be exceedingly good. Kvothe's character is so well done in the books that I can't see any way to improve on him. GoT shows that there is a market for this kind of epic almost movie like TV series. Done in hourly installments would be the best way forward to include all the amazing details of the books because they deserve to be there. Hell, I'd watch a season of Kvothe's childhood up until he got into the University for the first season.

The fight scenes would be amazing. I've always wanted to see The Lethani shown on screen.

I wasn't too sure about the chance of this actually turning out any good. But after reading the blog post I really think that they might pull it off if they give him as much control as he claims. GoT has shown that even a complex fantasy series can be turned into a good serie if the author is given enough input.

I think he HAS done this, we can see glimpses of a lot of things here that are clearly built up and well structured within the books.

He's quite good at the whole "iceberg fiction" idea

Patrick Rothfuss said in an interview before book 2 was release that he had planned 2 trilogy one with kvothe's past and one during the current time. Although he hasn't said anything about it since. So I'm not sure if he still wants to write the sequel trilogy.

Can you source that? I used to follow Pat quite closely and can't remember him saying anything of the sort. I also remember him saying that this trilogy was all that he would write of the current characters.

You just described the current books, they are about both his past and present.

Well if you think Kvothe is gonna just shrivel up and die at the Tavern then I guess. But I personally hope for a redemption trilogy. It would for me, complete the story.

Hahaha, the paragraph you are quoting is great.

    Emphasis mine.

But yeah, fair enough. I'm now pretty convinced there will be a second trilogy following Doors of Stone. It'll probably be about 15-20 years before it's released though, if we go by the current pattern.

Rothfuss was so optimistic! I wonder what his response would be now. My guess is that book 3 will be out within the next 3 years.

I would be very surprised if book 3 wasn't out next year sometime. Probably closer to christmas than before though.
