I'm fully enveloped in Star Wars hype, everything I've heard/read/seen so far is just the sort of thing I want. Not quite as excited about Rogue One, though.

In any case, if it's shit, at least I'll have gotten to enjoy this blissful year of anticipation. I think I'm going to love it though, John Boyega alone is fantastic (loved Attack the Block). Also BB-8 is just the cutest droid (I'll leave this comic right here).

Saw Everest recently. It was pretty fucking great. I recommend everyone to watch it. Didn't know anything about the movie and was surprised with the great cast.

Also saw Maze Runner 2. It was okay and a bit better than the first one.

Can't wait for November 2015 though because that's when The Hunger Games Mockingjay part 2 and Frankenstein are meant to come out

    Trailer drop.

    Joy

David O. Russell teaming up with Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper is becoming its own punchline. Their first film was good. Second was boring. This one looks incoherent, though I like the Christmas version of "You Can't Always Get What You Want".

    Colonia

I'll admit that half of the draw is Emma Watson. A third is Daniel Bruhl (he was awesome in Rush) and the plot is somewhere at the end. Looking forward to this.

I saw the trailer for Joy when I went to theater last week. Doesn't seem too bad. Robert De Niro always seems to have a side role in the Cooper/Law films these days too, haha. I'll probably watch Colonia too since I enjoyed the last Emma Watson performance I watched (Perks of being a wall flower).

Also, anyone excited for The Lobster starring Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz?

I think it looks great. I became a fan of Colin Farrell after I watched In Bruges and 7 Psychopaths. I'm not as familiar with Rachel Weisz or the director, Yorgos Lanthimos, but I've read good things about both of them. It also looks like John C. Riley has a role in the film, which is cool.

I wasn't sure what thread to post the Lobster. It looks like it'll have a UK and Ireland release in a few days, but the American release will be further down the line. Figured I should just post it here.

Just saw Sicario. Beautifully, emphatically shot and with a great soundtrack. Blunt gave a wonderfully balanced performance and I enjoyed Toro and Brolin very, very much, even if their characters are unrealistically to the point.

Some critics have been comparing it to the sweep of other drug war biopics/series, which I haven't seen. Should get on that for a better (material) comparison. But stylistically - Sicario was on point.

And looking forward to Spectre. Always Bond. Haven't seen MI5, will maybe get on that first and take the chance to explore other theatres in the city.

I really liked Sicario as well. The soundtrack was phenomenal and the mood throughout the film was menacing. Blunt is quickly becoming one of my favorites. It was really a great thriller.

I saw Knock Knock with Keanu Reeves. A guilty pleasure. Decently entertaining, chicks are hot and watching Neo trying to breathe human emotion into his painfully delivered lines is as facepalmy as it is funny.

    Sicario. Damn. Brutal.

Just got back from 'Crimson Peak', and honestly found it a little disappointing. There doesn't seem to be any of the subtlety of del Toro's other work. That said, it looks gorgeous, the cast are fine, there's a few jumps and spooks...it isn't bad really, except when you remember what del Toro can do with horror.

Came out a month ago, but just saw the second trailer for Creed, the sequel to the Rocky movies. Gave me chills. Amazing trailer - might have shown a bit too much, but it immediately got me hyped for the movie.

Spectre seems pretty divisive. I'm trying not to spoil myself, so I'm not reading in depth reviews, just impressions.

Has anyone watched 'Beasts with no Nation' yet? Idris Elba was godly in that.

Just got back from Spectre, and my God it's good. It's a proper Bond film; if Skyfall deconstructed it, then Spectre gleefully reconstructs it, and does a hell of a job. Really recommend it.

It isn't perfect. Monica Belluci is wasted, the retconning of Blofeld as being the man behind the man of the last three films is a bit of a stretch, and the main plot is a bit thin, instantly familiar from dozens of other thrillers, not least of which is Captain America 2. I guarantee you'll be having too much fun to care though.

LOL. I don't think I've heard as many polarizing opinions on a movie in a loooong time.

Beasts of no Nation was incredible. I think the main child actor could get nominated by the academy

I love Emma Watson like the next girl, but she looks too...classic Emma Watson in this. As in, she looks exactly like how she did for DH1/2.

I think that's why I enjoyed Perks of Being a Wallflower

    and Bling Ring

Just watched Spectre. Bond is back in glorious forum. Highly recommend you all go see it. I feel like the writing and screenplay is just such an improvement from Skyfall

Okay. The reviews on Spectre are so ridiculously polarizing it's not even funny.

To those who've seen it, what do you say to the critics that say things like:

    It's too long
    It's boring
    It's plot is ridiculous
It tries too hard to make certain characters funny, and fails

Too long: realistically, you could probably strip out at least one of the action scenes, if not more, without hurting the story too much. That said, I didn't for a second feel that it was dragging while I was watching it, and the screening I went to was done and dusted in two and a half hours, including trailers, which is pretty good for a blockbuster these days.

Boring: patently ridiculous. Unless of course you don't really like action packed spy thrillers, which is fair enough, but why would you go see Bond if that were the case?

Plot: it's not its strongest point, certainly, but it isn't especially bad. A little unoriginal, a little predictable, occasionally a bit of a logical stretch, but nothing too awful, imo.

Funny: I'm assuming this is referring to Ben Whishaw as Q, who gets a bit more to do than usual. Personally, I thought he was fine, although again, at least one scene could have been cut and the relevant info conveyed another way without too much issue.

Genuinely confused by the reception. Can't wait to see it.
