How the fuck do you make "Hello, kids" sound sinister? Damn.

I liked the '52' shoutout, and this episode overall seemed pretty decent. I have high hopes for Patty, given how well Eddie was handled in S1. It is kind of weird that Barry is just killing all his enemies now - at least in the previous episode he said something about how he couldn't let the guy hurt anyone else, in this one it's not even touched on.

Watched the episode. I liked Jay a lot, though I think Caitlyn's role in that is a bit too heavy-handed. Should've had more buildup, not to mention that it doesn't make a lot of sense for Caitlyn as we've known her until now.

Stein was the best part of this episode, imo. He's not the center of attention, but he is played extremely well.

Happy to see Wells (and his actor) return. The show needs all the good actors it can get.

Also, fucking yay for Iris family drama. Motherfuck. Please no.

I enjoyed this episode a lot but I was kinda surprised at how heavy handed they were pushing the Jay/Caitlyn thing. I was also very surprised by the addition of Patty Spivot. She was Barry's girlfriend in the comics for a while so I'm wondering if shes going to take up that spot here as well.

Well, the metahuman villains continue the trend of being bland, uninteresting and easily disposed off.

For everyone who says they are more coldblooded now, you forget, in season 1, they didn't just imprison them, the kept them in absolute solitary confinement in a tiny cell they could barely move in without letting them out, with absolutely nothing to do, most likely no showers and I am not sure how they handled the whole toilet business. Probably the same way they fed them. Knocked them out and dumped some food in or whatever. For months they kept them there and not everyone there was a mass-murderer. That's some North Korean shit they pulled.

As far as I am concerned, straight up killing them is outright merciful compared to their cruel season 1 actions. At least that's quick.

Not sold on Jay. For one, I despise these forced, forced romances, that are based on nothing more than "he is a boy, she is a girl, can I make it any more obvious" mentality. She is pretty, he is not hideous, they had one quiet moment together. Obviously, its true love.

Yeah, no thanks. At least Ronnie was set up and they had some chemistry together.

As to his mentor status, well, meh, really. As long as he is there to shakle Catelyn's story line down to this hideous forced romance, I hope he dies. Just, have Wells kill him.

I hate the "let's keep this thing that should not be kept a secret, a secret" thing they are going for with Cisco. He has zero reasons to keep that to himself, absolutely none, and I hate the forced conflict that is shoehorned into this. So what if Wells approved of it? He also did it with other stuff that didn't turned super evil.

Stein was enjoyable, though, he always is. Was stoked at Wells appearance, hope he will have a bigger part again, the show really needs him.

Joe is just uninteresting. He has nice chemistry with Barry but otherwise, he is rather bland.

The new police officer seems solid but I hope she doesn't turn out to be some villain. Seems likely she will, but I hope she won't. Other than that, we'll see, although I can practically smell her forced romance with Barry until he inevitably gets together with Iris.

So far, the episodes have been okay but nothing to truly write home about.

Might have factores in while they brainstormed Season 2 but that feels like a little too much forethought to have been planned from the start.

Atom Smasher is a superhero in the comics so her saying that in season 1 could have just been a light reference, then they decided to introduce him later on. Or it's just a coincidence, I suppose it doesn't matter much either way.

Clip from the next episode, it looks pretty cool.

    This.

I agree with a lot of the rest of your post but this is what weirded me out after the second episode.

In the first, it doesn't look totally deliberate, enough that I was like 'meh, OK.' Barry straight up ganked this fellow - When did this become OK, or what the flash does?

Reasonably, it may be less cruel than what they were doing in the last season but I'd really want an explanation about this about shift. They were pretty adamant last season that killing was for Arrow.

Does it not count because they're whatever? Eh. Seems pretty egregious to me.

Regarding Cisco, yes the conflict feels forced. However, I'm still positive about what I've seen of him this season so far. Some lines now and then fall flat, but his interactions with stein, how much life he injects into the character when he's just wandering around and how freaked out he can act when Vibe stuff is going down. I love it.

He's a lot better than sulky Barry right now.

Clip looked good. The further away we are from broody Barry, the fucking better.

Colds reaction to Barry being shot...

Also, was that a bit of hinting about earth 2 Barry?

Cisco saying 'We should hung out more' was just so natural and unexpected I ended up laughing.

I love how Barry and his troupe just keep on trusting the Snarts again and again and again and hilariously, they keep getting the same result. Gee, who would've thought.

Also, lol @Snart just leaving Barry to pay his bill. That's the evilest thing I can imagine.

Lol @ Big Belly Burgers. It's little throwaways like that that make me smile.

Joe's actor is so good holy shit. The revelation scene actually looked genuine and sad. The sorrow and desperation looked very much real on Joe. Kudos.

Barry and ... Pady's?? interactions were flowing and had chemistry, something he's never had with Iris' actress. I disliked her in the last episode, but surprisingly liked her here.

Sure, build an inter-dimensional portal and then just ... sorta leave it there, unchecked.

I love Snart, he's evil and he fucking loves it but he is also not an unrepentant monster, so, that works out.

His dine and dash, sticking Barry with the bill? That's just awesome.

More forced romance/attraction between Caitlyn and whatshisface, lame.

They need to put an Iris a la Stargate in front of their portal, what's with them and leaving these obvious weaknesses in their defence? There is being careless and then there is being forced to hold the idiot ball just to get conflict.

Also, if the father needed to press a button, why not just knock him out? Barry was fast enough, heck Snart could have just shot him in the back of the head. Problem solved.

Lol at Barry asking why Snart killed his father, as if he wasn't killing of his new rogues off one by one.

I honestly don't care about the mother subplot.

They need to give Iris instead something to do within the group, next to making friendship speeches. So far, her presence seems fake at best. Like, everyone has a position in the group that contributes something and all Iris has so far is being the heart or some shit like that. She could not come in and they wouldn't really lose anything. She doesn't have to be a scientist or a fighter but she needs to be something.

    Decent episode, though.

I liked him well enough in Law & Order, though nobody could compare to good ol' Lennie Briscoe/Jerry Orbach.

I wonder how long it will take them to stick some sort of karaoke scene in an episode so they can have him sing...

Yeah, let's steal blood right from their necks against their knowledge and consent. That's ethical, but hey, let's just shrug and accept it. Again with the speed being as fast as the plot requires it to be. If he is fast enough to draw that much blood with a syringe without them noticing it happening, why can anyone hit him at all? Besides, how fast can you draw blood out of the human body anyway? Wouldn't that cause some damage? Are they seeing the red streak blitzing through their field of vision? Would think it's obvious that the Flash did something to you.

Really nice, approaching them with lies instead of outright saying why they need help.

Also, subtle with what they are going with, what with the spirited uneducated youngster and the pretentious scientist. I wonder who they will go with and what lessons we will learn from this?

I still don't care much about the Iris and Joe subplot with Francine.

What's with Barry and him trying to get people into things they have no information on? "Yeah, let's lie to them about these things, why does he need to know the finer things about MERGING with another HUMAN."

Let's keep lying to each other. Never backfired before. Pretty sure Barry is better off being completely blindsided by Wells appearing.

Hey guys, how about opening with, "Professor Stein is probably going to die unless you merge with him from time to time. You don't necessarily have to go out being a hero, fight crime or other monsters, but come by once a week and maybe in real emergencies and we'd be golden."

Instead of this "how dare you not want to become a hero immediately" bullshit. They aren't offering him a favour, they are asking for his help.

    And they created another villain.

Surprised Joe told Iris about her mother.

So, did they kill him, lock him up or what?

What was the cartoon with the Sharks called, where they fought crime and other Sharks? He looked like one of those.

So, yeah, decent episode, again, but nothing to write home about exactly.

    1. They said they put him in the pipeline. So far it seems to be Earth-2 villains (like King Shark at the end of the episode) get eighty-sixed while Earth-1 villains get the pipeline.

    2. Street Sharks. King Shark and Street Sharks were created at roughly the same time, actually.

Wells just walking in there was fucking hilarious. Upgraded security my ass.

Not really digging the new Firestorm, but that was the same for his predecessor. I guess we'll see.

To be fair, Wells didn't enter Star Labs so much as he appeared right inside it. That might have allowed him to bypass a bunch of the security measures that they, obviously, were too busy to update to monitor the GIANT WORMHOLE in their basement.

Totally agree with Nemrut re: their handling of the Firestorm situation. I was kinda slackjawed the entire time that was going on - like, even at the end when Jackson agrees, nobody bothers mentioning that this will solve Stein's health issues. I would think they'd say just what you said, 'swing by and merge for a few minutes every week or so, is all we need from you'. Why the super-emphasis on being a hero, I don't know. Especially given what Ronnie!Firestorm did with his first year of being a superhobo.

As above. The blood thing seemed really egregious too me, but I wasn't sure if I was being nitpicky.

I mean, I already accept that he catches people or jerks them to a supersonic speed with no ill effect.

But, yeah. Big failure on the communication front. Why wouldn't they just ask, and say pop in every now and then and we can build it up from there. Were they that desperate to put Stein on a bus? We liked him.

I agree on the fact that Stein's health never coming up is a heavy mistake but I quite liked the episode so I'll just let it slide. Not even gonna go into the blood thing-. Still, pretty solid episode. I find myself liking Patty more and more, really hope they don't just throw her away in the future and ruin her character.

Well, now we know where Wally will come from. I have always had a soft spot for Wally West and while the race changing thing was in issue in the comics (completely changing the character's personality), I hope it isn't on the show. Really wanna see Wells on next week's episode.

King Shark looked amazing. Never expected them to pull him off as good as Grodd.

Eeeeh. The episode was just a whole bunch of lows with a few awesome highs. Iris mom drama is as uninteresting as it was before, but at least they didn't go the 'I forgive you and everything is cool' route, so there's that.

The whole Firestorm gig was ... okay? I mean yeah, the issues mentioned here were there, but I didn't really care enough to get worked up over them.

The best part of this episode were the few minutes dedicated to Barry and WhatsHerName. Despite never being able to remember her name, she and Barry have great chemistry and I want to see more of it.

HOW THE FUCK DO YOU NOT NOTICE A GIANT FUCKING SHARK DUDE STANDING RIGHT THE FUCK NEXT TO YOU. ALSO HOW THE FUCK WAS THE SHARK DUDE RIGHT THE FUCK THERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CITY RIGHT WHERE FLASH WAS AT THAT EXACT MOMENT IN TIME?

How long did he have to wait there until Flash arrived? How did nobody see him?

Meeeeeeh. At least Wells is back.
