Man, I didn't even come close to guessing that the events of episode 4-6, and especially Luke's parts, would fall into myth so quickly. With all the EU i grew up reading, him and Han and Leia not being super involved with everything seems weird to me. But being surprised... that's also good too!

Not just that, from what the trailer was saying, it sounds like the Force/Jedi/Sith in general have fallen into myth too...

I could be misreading it, but if that's the case, it seems kinda odd.

Why the fuck are we spoiler tagging trailer content?!

 

Well to be fair, Jedi/Sith/Force was almost mythology in episodes 4-6. So this means they just never returned to the fore, rather than being forgotten.

Which is weird when you think that the Jedi were fighting a massive war all over the galaxy some 18 years before ep 4, but w/e. Who needs continuity when you've got laser swords.

Fuck. Haven't been this hyped for something since... I dunno, really.

That music... like, the trailer could have just been two people sipping coffee and that music would evoke The Feels. Okay, maybe not quite two people drinking coffee, but including that music gives any trailer just a HUGE nostalgia / epicness edge.

This might actually be a movie I line up for at a theater.

 

My only hope is that some EU ideas are present (The Twins), but it looks amazing. Debating on whether to see it at midnight.

 

Honestly, I don't even fucking care about the EU anymore. THAT'S HOW HYPE I AMZ OHMAHGERB.

 

Everything I see just increases my temptation to go to a midnight screening...

Which of course, I'd be doing a day earlier as a UK resident.

 

So the black stormtrooper becomes a Jedi and fights Kylo Ren... I kind of want him to die because Ren seems like such a badass.

 

Oh, I am hyped! This is the only trailer I saw besides a 6 second video of Jon Boyega with the lightsaber and man! I am hyped! But if Kylo Ten turns out to be Jacen Solo it would be the greatest moment for me.


Also, JJ is saving Luke for the movie. I will totally appreciate it when I see the movie. Now, however, I am dying for at least one frame.

There was a shot of Kylo Ren with Poe, with Poe screaming. There's another shot, which looks to be towards the end of the movie, of Finn and Poe about to board their ships to enter an aerial battle. Poe touches Finn in greeting and Finn turns and looks at him strangely. Finn has a lightsaber, so it's likely he has some sensitivity to the force.

All this says to me that somehow Kylo Ren turns Poe and Poe is going to betray the Resistance at the end. Finn senses something is off when Poe touches him, but doesn't have the time to investigate it.

I hate going to films on opening day, because the crowd just increases the chance of not sitting where you want, having noisy jackasses or kids near you, having Andre The Giant's long lost twin sit in front of you...

Still, I might have to make an exception. Then again, if my friend is going to be around for the holidays, and it's close enough to opening day, I may wait and see it with him. A Star Wars movie can always be improved by having your best friend at your side.

Plus, watching his gleeful reaction to Ohio's comparatively low ticket prices is so amusing.

I know CGI has come a long way since the prequels came out, but even taking that into consideration, I'm thinking the effects in this have a much more realistic feel. Between that and the real props with real people on real sets... I have to say, it doesn't seem like watching a video game at all, the way it sometimes did with the prequels.

 

While technological advance and use of physical props play their role, I think a lot of it is also more dynamic cinematography (they actually use interesting camera angles) and design choices (everything looks used and dirty rather than sparking shiny clean).

 

Got my imax tickets booked for this , midnight screening all booked out , but I got central seats for the 17th !

Hope its worth the €40
