'Doesn't feel like an MMO' is pretty high praise if you ask me.

It should never have been an mmo.

If SWTOR had been KOTOR 4, and you just played through each planet storyline quest+each class questline, it would have been game of the decade.

Operative. It's an awesome thriller and you're basically Ethan Hunt.

If you must have your Force, BAMF fantasy, Sith Warrior is probably where it's at, but if you want your standard good vs evil (very much like the movies), probably Jedi Knight.

Bounty Hunter is... Cool? I guess? But it definitely lacks the depth the others do. Jedi Consular is painfully cringeworthy and I've not done the commando.

Sith Inquisitor is what you'll roll if you're desperate for lightning. The story is very mystical. You're a puppet master there.

Smuggler is middle of the road. Not as awesome as Op or Warrior, but def not 'meh'. It's cool.

Note: you can play and class as good or evil. No neutral.

Operative is essentially a spy game. It's really cool, and usually considered the "best" storyline.

I've never done it, but I've heard the Smuggler story line is supposed to be really funny. (Smuggler is also the mirror class to Operative, so they have the exact same in game mechanics, just with the different names/graphics).

The Bounty Hunter story is, well, you're a bounty hunter moving up the bounty hunter ranks. It makes sense for the class, and its a fun class to play, but it isn't truly great.

The Trooper (BH mirror class) starts off with an amazing chapter one, and transitions into an ok chapter 2. I've never done chapter 3, so I don't know if it ends strong or not. If you only expect to play to level 30ish before getting bored and quitting, Trooper is a strong contender for class to play.

Sith Inquisitor is one of two takes on being a sith. You start off as a slave, and your story is about dealing with your master, and obtaining power for yourself. It's a decent story, but not one of the best ones. It's also one of the harder ones I found- I remember having a lot of trouble on some of the mid to late class quests, which is something I normally don't have. It also has the biggest variance between its advanced classes- Assassin is a stealthy rogue melee class, Sorcerer is the games only mage.

Don't go Consular. If you want to play as sage/shadow, just do the sith version instead. It's the worst of the story lines.

Sith Warrior and Jedi Knight are the "main" story lines for their factions, I always felt. The way theyre constructed makes you interact with your faction at its forefront the most, which makes perfect sense given, you know, sith warrior and jedi knight.

Sith Warrior takes the other point of view as a sith- Instead of being a slave, youre a noble at the start. The class questline is essentially about becoming a Darth. I raided as a DPS Sith Warrior (Vengeance Jugg) for the first few raid tiers of SWTOR (before going back to WoW in MoP), and I loved it. It's a VERY mobile class for a melee warrior class, with fun as fuck leaps (charge to enemies and charge to ally), and I enjoyed the rotation as well. No idea how well they hold up in damage these days though. The other advanced class (Marauder) was a very different feel as well.

Jedi Knight I never finished, but you find out a lot about the Sith Emperor in his storyline iirc. I'm fairly certain its the ONLY story line that actually reveals info about him, at least in Vanilla SWTOR. I got to Tatooine on him, and don't really remember his storyline.

If you plan on playing the game more then just leveling a character, subscribe. If you are just planning on leveling to 50/whatever xpac you buy up through, then don't and spend a few bucks on microtransactions to make your life easier (xp bonus legacy feats, inventory size, etc.).

It's a really great game to just level through- like I said, if all you had was the class quests and the main planetary storylines (and not all the side quests), it would have been amazing. Instead, deciding to go mmo hurt it a lot. I do recommend doing dungeons as you level (just use the dungeon finder queue, if youre a tank or a healer you'll get fast ones, dps can be a while), because theyre fun and more forgiving then other mmos (The game has a mob difficulty system of Weak/Normal/Strong/Elite/Champion, and anyone can easily tank weak/normals/strongs. Dungeons aren't just filled with elites like in WoW, they are full of all mobs types, so big pulls arent nearly as dangerous as they are in other games).

For a first character, I'd highly recommend Imperial Agent, Republic Trooper, or Sith Warrior.

If you like Sniping/heavy ranged playstyle, or a roguey melee stabby style (IA's other advanced class is a melee burst stealth type) with a really good story, go IA.

If you want to either go range nuker/aoelighteverythingonfire, or a melee punchesyouintheface army man with a real buddy army storyline, go Trooper.

If you want to force choke a bitch, go Sith Warrior.

I started SW too, Jugg because it's called JUGGERNAUT.

I was a tank though, and ended up being best geared. People kept saying Jugg dps was amongst the worst, but when they finally brought in a dmg meter, lol, I never lost.

Oh, I'd advise against Sniper. Personally, I hated the cover mechanic. Concealment Operative is super fun. Consistent huge crits.

Imperial Agent has hands down the best storyline.

They did? I had a few weeks ago reinstalled and began a trooper (who is now around 43). I havent bought any xpacs, but you can just play at 60 or whatever the new cap is now without buying any other xpac?

The way they have reworked the vanilla quest lines now you can pretty much do just this. Additionally all of the flashpoints (dungeons) from vanilla are now able to be run solo so that's a lot of nice content as well.

Also if you want to play a class the will give you the experience closest to the movies, play a Jedi Knight. I rate it as the #2 story line overall falling just behind the Agent.

I'm tempted to write a crossover between TOR and Clones Wars/Rebels.

Character gets frozen in carbonite in TOR and is revived during the upheaval.

I think a 'teen but still slave Ani'/Ezra finding SCORPIO at a junk dealers and beaing taught to be her little flawed killing machine sounds fun, lol.

I made a sith assassin tonight, to see new 4.0 changes, and was pretty confused at how quickly i was leveling. Just saw this info in the patchnotes, which is pretty awesome. Not sure if its worth doing side quests or not, really. Gear or money maybe?

Gear and money yeah. Your gear may not keep up with your level unless they've increased the crystals you gain from missions.
