Got my second ranked team to platinum, myself mostly spamming Renekton top and Thresh/Alistar support when our usual support wasn't available.

Should probably get my soloqueue placements out of the way, but I'm just having way too much fun with team ranked and the coordination involved wen we have a group on skype that actually likes to tryhard.

 

I got to Gold 4 for like then 11th time this seasons and promptly went back to gold 5, where I will inevitably go into promos after a few games again. My play has really stagnated this season, don't really feel like I've improved. It's kinda annoying to be honest.

Anyone have any suggestions and tips from how they made their gold to plat transition

 

Pick a champ you enjoy playing and spam it, doesn't matter what role or if they're popular or not. I did it back in S3 with Sona, currently going through Plat with Shen.

Pick an op easy champ and spam it. So Darius.

 

Just don't become a dirty Sion picker.

Also Darius is banned too much to actually play him a lot.

 

I actually am curious how far I can go if I only play my best champ. The problem i see with this is that I want to become a plat level player, not a plat level (this specific champion) player.

 

You can round out your play at a higher level, where your mistakes in your off roles are punished harder and you will learn faster.

 

No one is equally good at every role/champ. There's nothing wrong with using a single champ to climb. If you get to plat without being boosted/scripting it makes you a plat level player.

 

First game today went Morg support, our Yi ends up with 20 kills ar 30 minutes and can't even be CCed, so he just closes the game out. Even though i had this tense moment when enemies were 10 seconds to respawning, i was desperately autoing the inhib, and the adc was farming instead of helping me. We barely got inhib and got away.

Then went Shyvana jungle, and was not doing that well, so went full tank after my devourer/Bork rush. Our Vayne was afk cause she accused Thresh of KSing her, so we were pretty much turtling at inhib hoping our Jax could eventually 1v5.

They go do their third baron so we follow them. I ult in, eat Malzahar ult and silence, Elise cocoon, Morg ult and binding, Trist ult, Cho knockup and silence in the space of three seconds while our Kat just comes after the Morg ult and gets an easy penta. And I survive due to GA.

Then we rush their nexus and win.

 

Is a team getting a hard counter in every single lane matchup normal or not? Because we had (last pick vs full AD autoattack reliant comp) Malph vs Jax, Morg vs Yas, and Leona Jinx vs Sona MF. And Kindred vs Trynd in jg. Ez life.

 

Welcome to Solo queue- common sense and intelligent drafting discouraged. Odds are you will end up on that kind of team at some point.

After playing roughly 30 more rankeds I haven't moved much in terms of division. I started in Silver I, played, got demoted to Silver II, played, got promoted to Silver I, played... you get the drift. I pretty much hover at the border of Silver I and II.

Negative: You have absolutely no control over what kind of shitheads the game will visit upon you.

Positive: I played Thresh for almost all of these games. The hooks don't always hit, but I start to get a feeling for them and hit them a bit more reliably. Same with using my Flay passive for being a pest in the early game and harrassing adc/supp from the bushes.

 

Played some team rankeds today, lost both of them, but it was with our "troll" team, where everyone plays positions that they don't favor.

Game 1 I played jungle Elise, and got outjungled to hell and back by a Diamond 1 Lee Sin. All our lanes also got embarrassed on individual level. We had Mordekaiser though, which almost got us back into the game by being ridiculously broken champ.

Second game I played Gragas. 3 kills early in skirmish on bot lane, secured the first 3 dragons, at this point I was 5/1/4, but the enemy had Veigar mid, who, despite me killing him twice with the help of our mid, just outscaled us so bad that he could stall the game and in the end win it for them. Lesson is, if you leave Veigar open on purpose in his current state, fucking don't leave picking him up to the last rotation :/


Next time we play it's back to spamming top and support I would hope. It seems Gragas and Yi are the only junglers I currently can pull off against diamond level players with any kind of efficiency, and my friends are rarely willing to accommodate my Yi in the draft phase, and you don't pick that fucker into just any matchup or team comp...
