Any story that glorifies Blaise Zabini. In all of those stories, he is actually tolerant of muggleborns.

It is made clear in canon that Zabini is just as prejudiced as Malfoy. So I'm not sure where the fanfiction writers come up with Blaise being tolerable.

 

The majority of stories with Blaise in it also have him as a girl iirc. Which makes sense, since they were written before she ever fleshed the character out. For what little character she added.

 

You forgot the neglectful/abusive parents and asshole/glory stealer sibling. Reminds me of one of those I read years ago, where the twelve years old Evil Brother was having sex with a twelve years old Sakura...then Naruto observed as Minato, his Evil Father, joined the fun.

I'm still waiting anxiously for the creation of the Neuralyzer in the real life, but for now, what was seen cannot be unseen.

Yes, well I'm talking about the stories which were created after the series was over. I've never even read a female Blaise story.

It's canon that the Greengrass family espouses the Pureblood Supremacy philosophy, so I hate it, too.

The whole "Ice Queen" persona was probably created by some guy that didn't like the idea of Harry getting Draco's sloppy seconds.

 

It's surprising how you can be so wrong and so right in the same message.

It is canon that Daphne Greengrass is in Harry's year.

According to author interviews the girl is a pureblood, originally called Queenie; she has a little sister named Astoria who later marries Draco; and Daphne was part of Pansy's crew.

But yeah- writers including her as a love interest have to come up with an explanation why the beautiful, smart, sassy, pureblood girl in Slytherin escaped Draco's and/or Blaise's clutches. Either it's 'Ice Queen' or she's been hiding as a trollish lump until Harry says something nice to her.

 

One of the early stories I read had him as a girl. I didn't even realise he wasn't at the time. Really messed with my head for the next year when ever other story was different.

Why can't an author change minor characters around to make a new plot?

 

If you're going to change the fundamental beliefs, principles, and personalities of a character then they are nothing more than glorified OC's with canon names.

Just like making Ronald Weasley a Death Eater would never viably work, or Severus Snape into a loving mentor for Harry, making Blaise Zabini a muggleborn lover doesn't work.

If an author lacks self-awareness their story is going to be garbage.

 

They are characters that got a bare mention in canon. There is nothing fundamental about them because you know practically nothing about them.

 

But what we do know should be taken into account.

The books mention that Blaise Zabini believe in Pure Blood Supremacy, and he openly shows disdain for those who don't.

The books also mention that he is a vain and prideful person.

These things should be taken into account when writing a story about him. Making him into a humble muggleborn lover would be like making Hermione into a lazy student with a house-elf for a slave.

It doesn't work.

If you can't change anything, particularly minor things, what's the point or reading or writing fanfiction? Do you just want to read endless canon rehashes?

Furthermore you know squat about Zabini or Greengrass. The few lines they have are from Harry's probably biased perspective. You know nothing about their motivations, what they actually believe, how they came to their beliefs etc.

 

I'm pretty sure Greengrass doesn't even get a mention beyond roll call during the OWLs. She is literally a blank sheet of paper. You know nothing about Astoria either besides, of course, the fact that she married Malfoy and is the mother of Scorpius.

Rowling said Astoria was raised, or at least identified, with Pureblood values and changed her views at a later point. However, that does not mean Daphne preached those same ideas. She is a blank character. Reason why she is used so frequently.

 

Zabini himself said that he doesn't like blood-traitors.

God, it's like some of you haven't read the books since they first came out.

 

What is lying? What is saying thing to not get lynched? What as starting out as a normal kid and having your views changed by years pureblood dogma?

You can not say anything absolute about a character and furthermore you have justified why you can't change things in fanfiction (which is pretty much what fan fiction is about).

You have taken a single line from a character and build a hard figure around them that can't apparently change or be wrong because you said so.

 

I mean, I think this is really kinda rich coming from someone who makes up quotes about canon character personalities, Amerigo.

 

There's nothing wrong with tweaking the personality of character, but changing things that are part of their core as a human being simply doesn't work.

I'm not going to argue about this. If you can't understand something as simple as this, you have no business writing fanfiction.
