Ugh.

I'll probably be waiting to get this until... hell freezes over? That is to say, when I can afford to build a new PC.

My rig has held out amazingly well over the years, but I just don't think it will be able to run Fallout 4 at an enjoyable level. I considered myself lucky that it even runs Far Cry 3 and Wolfenstein: The New Order at a kinda sorta somewhat playable standard.

Anyway, the game looks pretty amazing. For everyone who will be playing it, have fun and here's hoping there aren't any showstopping bugs that need patched.

 

Absolutely loving the weapon modding present in the game.

I haven't used the house modding at all, because I honestly don't see much point, but being able to glue bits of uranium to a pistol so you can shoot straighter is pretty cool.


Also, the postman was very tired when he dropped mine off this morning. My mum went out to get the box, because I was in the shower, and came back in having been given three boxes. She thought I'd ordered a new rig with it.
Luckily, I found one of them through a friend on facebook, and confirmed their address. So they got their's at about 2200.
The postman still hasn't come to collect the other, and so they are going to be terribly annoyed with Game and DPD when it all gets sorted.

If you've got the PS4 version, building houses is required for several trophies. It's also a really useful way to have a lot of healing items on hand. You can make a kitchen and cook all the meat you find on your travels, leaving it rad free.

 

What the hell is that?

 

Irritatingly, the quest Institutionalized (Main Quest line) is massively bugged for me. Gets stuck. Apparently a character is supposed to walk into the room after I enter but he doesn't. I even tried console commanding the door open and it didn't work. Urgh. (This is as non-spoilery as I can be).

I'm about 8 hours in and loving this game, but in speccing my character I misunderstood something which means I have to pour points into agility on every other level because I want to stealth

 

I got through the character creation...and then when the time came and Things went down, my graphics driver started crashing :/ . Every time. I get through the gate sometimes, most often not, and then graphics crash. Running in windowed borderless, medium settings.

Off to fiddle with settings -.- .

 

I finally had to scrap Betsy, my faithful 10mm.

After killing a legendary mirelurk (it was locked in a pen, and I felt kind of bad killing it), I found a legendary 10mm on the body - +25% fire rate, +10% reload speed. So now I have Betsy 2.0.

All my guns are named, so I don't accidentally sell mine (because raiders carry ones that are nearly as good, and they all have complex names). Female names for anything one-handed, male for anything two. It's actually meant it's really easy to pick the right weapon mid dungeon when you get attacked by a legendary deathclaw and need to take all the chems at once, and switch to a much higher DPS weapon at the same time.

My new city, being built at the Red Rocket Truck Stop, is doing well. So far, it has repelled at least three raider attacks, which I've seen. This is partly because Cait has stolen my power armour, and now uses it to patrol the base. I can't get it back from her, and have had to put another bed down so I can wait for her to get out of it and fall asleep.

A final note, for those that might not have noticed:
Perks can change as they level up, rather than just being a progression. Some final level perks can be really useful, but locked behind one or two that you just don't care about.

 

This is one of those games I am considering shelling out the full price for because I know I'll get so much replay value for. I loved Fallout 3 but it never took me in the way that Oblivion and Skyrim did.

 

I just can't get through the Museum of Witchcraft. I've gone back like 4 times, and each time ends in my swift death. Maybe I should have something other than a sacrificial knife and a Furious Power fist. Oh well. One day, maybe when I'm level 50+, I'll manage it.
