It's kind of sad seeing a good story slowly go down hill like this I've always wondered how that happens Maneyan is a fairly solid writer so how did it all go so wrong.

Ouroborous reached the point in its story where action scenes are inevitable. They are going to decide if Iam gonna follow this story.

I have to admit im surprised there arent more quality naruto fics. I mean even though the last 20 chapters were annoying with all these random things coming out of nowhere it did give lots of information that authors can use to write fics. Ive been reading Blast to the Past which is interesting. The thing with Ouroboros having Naruto in Akatsuki really annoyed me and didnt make too much sense to me.... but the sequel is interesting so far.

 

This fic outlines my problem with a decent portion of Naruto/HP crossovers. I can deal with characters from Harry Potter showing up in the Naruto-verse (specifically if it's only one character), but Naruto characters showing up in the HP setting just seem... odd. They just don't really meld correctly to the setting.

 

Not to mention magic is nerfed as fuck.

The Best Laid Plans comes to mind. Konoha is far less peaceful than in Canon.

 

I've got to admit, most of the stories on my favourites are Guilty Pleasures more than anything while other are stories that are cliché but were original at the time. I did however manage to dig up a few. Bear in mind these are only stories that are new or may be unknown.

Genius Sensei - This one's already been mentioned befroe but I believe it merits repeating. It's essentially similar to The Best Laid Plans but is newer so it avoids many of the clichés. The story is good and while the characters may seem overpwoered at times, the story doesn't suffer for it at all. The author even comments that their powerlevels aren't even close to canon. This, I would rate as 4.5/5.

Konoha's Dream Team - I'm not going to lie, this one may be a bit of a hit and miss for some of you and the beginning is especially choppy though it does manage to stabilise. Unfortunately, the plot stalls ina few places so I would have to rate this 3/5 though with a bit of tidying up it could probably reach 3.5/5.

Life in Konoha's ANBU - Needs no explanation, 5/5.

Ricochet - This story is beautiful. No other words for it. It will make you laugh, cry and intrigued at all the right moments. I would rate it at least 4.5/5 but so far there is a lack of an overall plot. Also some people have compalined that the fast change of emotions is a bit iffy but I see nothing wrong with. I would say this story is 4/5.

Shinobi no Kami - Written by the same author as Genius Sensei though this story stars Hiruzen who is much more proactive than he is in canon. It takes place right after the attempted kidnapping of Hinata and takes a detour from there. This, I would rate 4.5/5

The Flash - For a story with about 100 favourites, I didn't expect it to be as good as it was. It stars Minato and is AU, meaning that the events of Naruto may or may not take place. The one gripe I have about this story is that the Hiraishin is a Bloodline as opposed to a seal but I was able to ignore that. I would rate this story as 3.8/5.

Empty Room - This story is a oneshot that I feel needs to be mentioned. It's less than 500 words but it is beautiful and well worth reading. Being a oneshot, I can't justify giving it the rating that I want but since it's so short I'll let you guys make up your own mind.

 

I've been looking for more randoms to sink my teeth into recently and I thought after years of ignoring Naruto I might give it a try. I've never watched the anime, mind you.

Anyone have any recommendations for someone new o the fandom?

Before starting anything, I recommend you read the Naruto wiki. There's a lot of things in the fandom that never get explained in the story because the authors assume the readers already know about it.

After that, read Hurricane Suite and Patriots Dawn.

 

In all fairness, I believe that when you're new to a fandom it'sbetter to start of with the more subpar stories. That way, your standards will be lower and therefore you'll be able to enjoy more stories. SImply put, Hurricane SUite and Patriot's Dawn are too good. If he starts off with those two, he'll be unable to enjoy most of the other stories out there.

 

Yeah, read bad fiction on purpose. 10/10 advice.
