I actually dropped a review where I was mostly a condescending arsehole and gave out a few small pieces of feedback and the writer just sent me a PM asking me for more clarification and more feedback.

It does seem like this guy actually legitimately wants concrit. Which makes me feel slightly bad for being a git to him.

My problems with this are not only of technical nature... - oh dear:

EDIT: To sum this up: Every single evil!Dumbledore cliché is confirmed in one sentence. Then, the fucking satan himself wants to carry Harry to hell because he obviously has nothing else to do.
Oh, and then we get to know the ending of the story (Harry having a better life), which is just great. We know Harry won't die, we know he will be rescued and we know by whom (and anyone with a half-brain knows which slash-pairing there will be) and we know he will be fine in the end. Dat suspense! Stretched out for fucking 200 chapters!

I've no idea why people review like this. I've left harsh reviews before, but why be purposefully condescending to someone with whom you have no history? (or even with someone with whom you do have a history?)

That's a pretty decent summary, to be honest, and doesn't belong in this thread at all (unless you've vastly improved the summary while translating it). The story might be horrible, but the summary clearly states where the story is going and gives me more than I need to know in order to choose whether to read it or not based on substance.

Where do I even begin with this one?

1. Halloween should be a time of mourning for Harry, since, ya know, it's the anniversary of his parents' deaths.

2. Japanese tags in a fandom that has nothing to do with Japan.

3. 'Cross dressing Harry' and 'De-aged-Demon-Aberforth'. Dafuq?

4. Why is 'magical creatures' a warning?

5. The god awful pairing. If your story reads like something a NAMBLA member would write, you're doing something horribly wrong.

Well...it's certainly more original than Harry having the hots for Veela!Draco. Sadly, a really big part of the fandom was infected by that one.

Not that the crossdressing Harry and Demon!Aberforth is much better...perhaps Harry is a goat animagus, would explain the creatures warning.

 

How is that even an idea? How the hell do you come up with that.

 

I'd suspect an impressive amount of alcohol behind it...

 

I can't even imagine what this story is about.

Sadly it took a terrible story to finally come across an in character and competent Dumbledore. Never the less I had to read that a couple of times to make sure I got all that was said.

 

Oh God. I want to see more of this kind of Dumbledore. While not completely in charater, he sounds enjoyable to read about. Most Dumbledore characterisations have him acting like Luna or a cross between Snape and Voldemort. This one actually sounds quite refreshing.

 

A lot of fics just make Dumbledore out to be an idiot.
