So it's really hard to display text in the usual fonts and make it so someone can't copy it. Yes you can prevent selection of text like ffnet but that's easily bypassed.
It just makes it harder for legitimate uses like discussion of the text.

Aside: in theory, I suppose it would be possible to generate "handwritten" text that's legible but can't be copied. Of course, if it's legible it's probably possible to ocr the text with sufficiently good machine learning - but I doubt that's a serious threat.

You know, one thing I just noticed about this guy is that he only plagiarizes HP fanfics, as far as I can tell. It's strange.

I'm surprised that the account hasn't been banned yet on FanFiction.net despite being reported so many times by different people.

 

A well-known troll account. FFN tracks accounts by ID and not username.

There's no reason to draw any more attention towards the troll. If there are any findings regarding this I suggest sending a PM directly to me and/or authors involved. Most people here already know how to send a DMCA to FFN and if not, I will send the instructions and provide assistance.

If the ID is on that list, we likely already are at it.

For the record, this public list will no longer be updated. Tracking of the case will be handled elsewhere starting as of today due to the troll seeking public attention. Let's make sure he no longer gets it either here or at on FFN.
