Though, of course, it's a subjective opinion. But of the top of my head: it drags on for far too long and tries to be both a story and a lecture, failing at both. First few chapters have some really great comedy, but it quickly goes downhill. If you have time, you can dig through the library thread. Search it for Taure's posts, he wrote a very on-point review.

 

Will do, thank you . It was like the third fanfiction I ever read, so without anything to compare it to I thought it was pretty decent.. at the time.

 

For me it was the story not being enjoyable to read. I dropped it out of disinterest years ago and didn't find out about the rest of the issues until much later.

 

It's a combination of things that lesswrong does that rubs people the wrong way. For one, he'd only read 3 of the books when he first started it and has only recently finished reading the series (Not quite sure of this though). Another is his rejection of anything resembling constructive criticism and slander of DLP. There's also the fact that he solved problems that didn't exist in the first place (Rules of Transfiguration).

But back to the topic at hand.

A particularly annoying pet peeve of mine is whenever Harry make a comment along the lines of "The Wizard world are biggots/prejudiced/like to stereotype". The fact that the writer can't see the hypocrisy in that statement boggles my mind.

 

Maybe the author used it as a tool to show us Harry's lack of self awareness. is it possible for an author to use intentional hypocrisy without people assuming him/her to be an idiot? If we don't know the author, shouldn't we give him the benefit of the doubt?

 

Maybe, but still. The inherent stupidity of the statement that someone had to sit down and write, "Well, they're all just bigots," without even pausing to consider people like Arthur Weasely or Albus Dumbledore cannot be fathomed. They're clearly using Harry as a mouthpiece for their own views. Also expect Weasely or Dumbledore bashing to follow, likely for plotting to steal his gold and landed inheritance.

 

Only a sith deals in absolutes.

What also puzzles me are the tags "Non-sexual Asexuality" (which seems like a tautology) and "aromantic" in a shipping fic, when the only way I can parse that word is "doesn't fall in love".
