    Chapter up.

We get it. This country is quirky and unique and interesting, sure. Can we move on now?

arc has at least 100 chapters to go most likely. Oda's pace has gotten way way way too slow. Its shocking to read earlier chapters.

I don't know about you two, but I loved this chapter.

What was exactly wrong with it?

I don't know if I just read a poor translation or what, but... where the hell is Sanji? I'm getting all sorts of mixed vibes.

Nami apologized for what happened to him, and I think Brook also intimated that something horrible occurred. But they aren't in mortal danger, so why hasn't Luffy asked for clarification? Or Zoro?

There was mention of Momo hiding in his room or somesuch, and I'm not sure if that was related to Sanji's whereabouts or not. I think it was, but I have no idea?

It's crazy unclear to me, but the characters don't seem to have questions about where he is, so... yeah, help?

We don't know. He left a letter saying where he went but it's contents haven't been revealed. Source. Chapter 807.

One Piece Party Chapter 3, retelling a Japanese Folk story (the legend of Momotoro) with OP characters.

    It was pretty goddang funny.

Mod Edit: Don't link manga sites, they fall under Warez in the rules.

Do any of you guys feel that the beginning of the new arks are longer then they should be? If we take the most recent with Doflamingo everything until they actually startet the real, final fight was kind of "meh" for me. Sure things take time to get set up and resolved, but still I cannot get as excited as I was earlier in the series. Perhaps I am just getting to old :(

While I think there certainly has been some increase in set-up time, I think the majority of the irritation people feel is the difference between blasting through already established content vs. hitting the end point and being forced to follow week-to-week.

I run into this with most manga that I start reading. Most of us (especially outside of Japan) don't pick up a manga when it starts. Generally we wait until it's been translated into English, and that usually doesn't happen until it's popular in Japan. Then we have to hear about it, decide it sounds interesting, and start reading it. Or, alternatively, watch the Anime (also with English, usually subbed), run out of content, then go seek out the manga for more story.

So you end up getting to read years worth of content at your leisure, then suddenly running face first into the wall of 'wait for next week's update.' And each update is short. And some weeks you don't get one.

So personally I think that's the biggest issue. There's also been a bit of change in how the story sets things up. I just don't personally feel that's why I find it harder to maintain interest.

Supaman - Maybe consider waiting about 2 months between checking the updates? That's what I do sometimes, and then it feels like you get a nice chunk to read when you finally get around to it.

Yup. Hit me back in the Impel Down arc. Hard to believe I've been following this series week by week ever since.

It's hard to read the set-up week by week but if you read it as a whole, it becomes immensely satisfying. Oda takes a while to build up arcs but only so that you really feel and care for the characters he's built in each small world. You may feel aggravated that he spends so much time on the details of new islands, but that's actually core to the philosophy of one piece - exploration and adventure.

What the fuck? I mean, I was on board with things feeling a bit 'slow' lately even if logically I knew they probably weren't.

But c812 and c813 made me interested again, because LOLWTF.

Pekoms, in typical OP fashion, is grateful to the Straw Hats for helping the Mink people... when he expresses this, his supposed partner shoots him in the fucking head and apparently kills him. Maybe I missed some earlier cues to foreshadow that, but it was a kick in the face with the sudden brutality of it. Awesome.

But that's not the WTF part.

Sanji backstory! He's the youngest of three sons. From an (apparently) well known family that I don't /think/ we've heard of before.

And they've contacted him to let him know he's going to be participating in an arranged marriage. To Big Mom's daughter. At a tea party. Very soon, in fact, they're already on their way.
I mean, seriously, lolwtf (in a good way, because now instead of waiting a month and maybe forgetting to read updates, I think I'll remember to check next week).

I love how in the New World the Yonko are always somehow looming in the background.

I think the Big Mom arc will follow the same pattern as Enies Lobby, in the sense that Sanji will take the place of Robin and Big Mom the place of the World Government. Which means we can expect some epic fights for everybody involved.

And then there is still this guy.

    Chapter 814 (spoilers below):

Sanji's family was finally revealed. Didn't expect for them to be Assassins, and mostly no one else expected Assassins surprisingly (Odashadowing, where are you?). But this guy somehow did: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kCasvZaCYg

At first I thought that Sanji's refusal to hit women was his Mafia family's stereotypical pride acting out, but Assassins should have no compunction killing anything. So there's another explanation, perhaps along the lines of an abusive father and lovable mother...

Eh. I suppose it's Sanji's time to play the 'Oh noes I must leave the group because reasons even though everyone knows I won't actually leave the group' role. Here's hoping it goes by quickly.

I'll admit to being interested in his family, though.

We're talking about Mr. Prince, here, Rep. He has a history of leaving the group to go on his own and solve shit like a boss. Right now, I doubt he'll act as the resigned-to-his-fate type.

Also, he's probably the most rational, perspective and level-headed of the Strawhats (except when a beautiful woman is involved XD). He knows there's no chance in hell he could actually leave the crew, 'cause Luffy wouldn't let him (unless it truly was his wish or something). My bet is he's already planning ahead. Either he handles things on his own or he knows his Captain will try and help in his usual reckless way.

I love how Oda plans this shit out.

The second Sanji gets a wanted poster that actually looks like him, this event occurs. Nobody recognized his original bizzaro one, but right after a real picture is used...

Attention: Someone who remembers canon better than I do...

The female pirate captain on Thriller Bark, that the Straw Hats helped out? Lola, according to the wiki.

She kept asking everyone to marry her.

She mentions that her mother is a powerful pirate in the New World. I think she gave them a piece of vivre card for her.

...is it possible that she is Sanji's intended? Seems like potential foreshadowing, but I can't remember if I'm missing details that contradict the theory.
