Wasn't there a one year timeskip between ANH and ESB and then three years until ROTJ?

This piece of interview pretty much says that Ben/Kylo knows that Vader did turn back to the Light. So there probably won't be him learning about it later and beginning to doubt from there.

A New Hope to Empire = 3 years 3 months.

Empire to Return of the Jedi = 8 months and change.

No, it's the inverse, which is significant because it removes the potential for Luke to have returned for extended training with Yoda in between ESB and ROTJ.

There was a comic series called "Tales of the Jedi". While it wasn't much artistically, IMO, I did like that it didn't take over two decades to become a Knight or a Master. Everyone was different. There were prodigies, even a single adult person became Grandmaster of the Order in about 4 years.

It all came down to how much a person could immerse him or herself in the Force, how much he or she gave themselves to the Force and received back from it. It was canon obviously from Luke's example going from barely knowing anything in Empire to becoming a Knight in RoJ with some actual training.

So... Rey accepting and immersing herself in the Force and being able to battle off an injured and bloodied Ren at the end of TFA didn't surprise me at all.

Also, the bowcaster (Chewie's weapon): The weapon used metal quarrels enveloped with energy as ammunition. Two polarizing orbs, balanced on each end of the bow, created a magnetic field that boosted the quarrel's momentum. Once the cocking spring was pulled back, the trigger fired the quarrel, which was charged with plasma energy. This is current canon.

Supposedly it's much more powerful than a blaster rifle, just not as practical because of the low fire rate.

Just walking around spoke well of Ren's strength. But even the more powerful dark side user will still eventually lose strength and fall flat on his face. Again, Rey winning, not at all surprising.

Mm, my response was supposed to be a joke, but no biggie. Unless I read your post wrong and you totally got the joke.

Khem. Anyway. I saw the movie again yesterday and a second look was, shall I put it, more sober than the first. I can see why people dislike it or parts of it and while I agree with some of those opinions, I approached it with distance and enjoyed what was there. I'm the first to admit I'm not a great SW fan, so the movie's faults didn't bother me, really. Also, it's a function of my learning from my overreaction to JW.

As for KR vs Rey, Kylo took a space-shotgun blast to the torso and still dominated for most of the fight. I thought they showed it pretty well that he was really feeling that wound. Rey is obviously super special, but that's nothing new in SW.

After the second viewing I'll give the movie a 9/10 for being good fun and treat it as such.

More relevantly, the dialogue between Yoda and Luke makes it clear that ROTJ was his second trip.

I've just watched it and I came out feeling disappointed.

I went in full of enthusiasm, I even went back and replayed KOTOR 1+2 and watched all the films in anticipation. It fell flat for me. To me Rey felt like an uninteresting Mary Sue to the point that in the final battle I was cheering for Kylo because I actually cared what happened to him.
Finn was funny and had good chemistry with Han and Chewie although the interactions with Brienne felt awkward, probably because she didn't sound menacing, just like Happy ol' Brienne.

I know next to nothing about the First Order and the Resistance which lead to me to not really care who won. They could have fleshed it out with five to ten minutes of padding to tell us about them and slow the thing down. It felt like a rush to whack as much action in as possible.

They've manage to make me, a massive Star Wars fan quite uninterested in the rest of the series.

    So I finally watched it.

I won't mention the nazi motif. I really won't touch it.

The scene where Ren is questioning Rey felt a bit rape-y to me.

Ren's actor was very good portraying a whiny little bitch.

The drama was overplayed and the gags were kinda weird.

Rey started out as a nice starting MC but turned into ... something that I can't understand.

The parallels with TNH were blatantly obvious, and the In-each-movie-we-should-build-a-bigger-weapon thingy is kinda annoying.

The music was awesome tho. Still makes me feel things that I don't want to feel. The guy is a genius.

Overall 6/10, but I think with the sequel it can get better, because we don't know jackshit.

    I want Mara Jade.

How exactly does Ren get off the planet after his fight with Rey? We see him lying on the ground as Rey runs away and then we see the planet explode. They kinda need him for the future movies, is there like an official way he escaped?

Presumably Hux managed to get to him and escape in time.

Yeah, the movie could have used a few of those scenes in them. The bit about Maz seems interesting. I watched it a second time a day ago, and I'm really liking Kylo Rens character. I really wish that the deleted scene with him and the Falcon was in the movie.

You missed Poe getting the map from an old dude. Stormtroopers arrive. Poe runs. They shoot his x-wing. He shoots some stormtroopers. Finn's buddy gets dead.

I just finished watching the movie. For the first 40 minutes it hovered in between the 'good campy, I like this' feeling that the original movies did so well with and 'okay too campy.' Then we got treated to a cut straight out of Triumph of the Will and it became "in case you missed it The New Order is really Nazis in Space."

And that was the point where I stopped caring about the movie. It was still better than any of the prequels, which were all terrible, but I found it impossible to care after Nazis-in-Space.

    meh/10.

There's always been Nazi iconography in Star Wars.

That scene with the massed stormtroopers was probably a little too on the nose though.
