OK so have you seen ANY reviews for this game yet in western media? I haven't and I really want to read an honest to god full review of this game before I give it a shot, preferably several reviews.

Maybe they didn't send advance copies out?

 

The game's been out for a year. Look for anyone who reviewed the import in that time, unless you're desperate to read about the localisation quality.

I already have Renamon, and my Agumon will become a Beelzemon, so 10/10.

 

Well I was pretty late in finally getting around to it, but I ran through Life is Strange again and beat the whole thing.

Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, it was really goddamn stupid. Primarily because the entire premise of Max somehow causing the storm is completely nonsensical, and the ending choice they give you has absolutely no ground to stand on because of that. And even if you can delude yourself into disregarding that, both endings (yeah, fuckers can't even give you more than two) pretty much invalidate everything you do in the game in one way or another, making me wonder why they didn't just make a stupid walking simulator and save themselves the trouble.

Not to mention that absolutely nothing is explained whatsoever. Why'd Max get her powers? What the hell was up with Rachel? What about all that Indian and spirit stuff they were foreshadowing? Meh, who cares, right?

Bah. Is it even surprising when developers completely shit the bed anymore? And it's really too bad, the premise hit both my "normal person with powers" and "time travel" buttons.

On another note, going through it a second time the shitty dialogue and general cringiness of these writers trying to portray teenagers was a lot harder to bear. I don't know how I handwaved it so easily last time. Also the entire beginning of Episode 4 with the alternate timeline felt really unnecessary.

TL;DR, I guess I'm just glad I didn't pay for it.

 

XCOM 2 has really surpassed my expectations. Fantastic game.

 

Can't wait to play. It's come out at a pretty bad time, but I'm happy to wait on that one. Especially since it'll give modders time to make it even better.

Dark Souls 3 - PS4/X1/PC - To The Kingdom of Lothric

 

A really nice trailer. Pulls a lot from Dark Souls and even Demon's Souls, what with the named NPCs/Bosses. It clearly tries to tie together all of the Souls stuff since Dark Souls.

I was hyped before, am even more hyped now. Bloodborne was a minor personal disappointment - it was a great game, but it wasn't Souls. I'm hoping that this one will make me play for a thousand hours.

 

Oh lord my heart. That trailer gave me so many chills, especially that scene with the Undead Legion...seeing them rise out of their graves with Artorias' greatsword.

Just after I emptied out my wallet for Fallout 4 too. Can't wait to see the story behind it all!

 

This is me being nitpicky, but I'm hoping there are more than Dark Souls 3 "main" story bosses in the same way that there were 4 "main" story bosses in Dark Souls 1. (Nito, Seath, 4 Kings, Bed of Chaos) Because the more story bosses, the more optional bosses as well (baseless prediction).

Again, nitpicky on my part. Hype AF for this though. Loved playing through it at PSX.

Best part is that it's one of the only recent games in memory for me that all of my friends are getting.

 

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen is Capcom's fastest-selling PC game

Well, what do you know? Good games sell well.

And you have to consider how late this port came to PC and with virtually no marketing.

 

Question for anyone who would know. Would buying a 3DS from the USA to get me access to the US 3DS Store? Or would the location of my internet revert me to the European 3DS Store?

Vaguely contemplating buying one as localisations tend to go to the US quicker than they do here.

 

Man that trailer has just made me sit here in endless anticipation of what the game is going to be and how deep the lore will run.

 

My understanding is that you would have access to the USA store yes, since the system is region locked to only playing USA games.

However I recommend not doing this because we seem to be at the end of the 3DS (speculation is that Nintendo NX handheld will launch this Oct/Nov), and there aren't many games left that will come out in US first, in fact, Bravely Second will be out in a week in Europe and Australia but won't be out for 2 more months in the US.

Also Bravely Second is reviewing better than expected in the west

I got FE: Fates Special Edition and have played the first 3 chapters despite not having finished Awakening yet (oops I'm too hyped) So far Fates is great looking and has fixed a couple of my minor annoyances with the systems in Awakening. Which is nice.

I'm planning to play Birthright, then Conquest (both as a male Corrin) then play through Revelation with a female Corrin so I have maximum access to S-Rank Supports and get to see more of the writing. I'm inordinately excited for all the Japan-wank

New Uncharted 4 story trailer dropped earlier that's stoking the hype. I'd link, but I'm total media blackout.

 

For the curious.

I guess it might finally be time to buy a PS4. I don't know whether I'm excited and looking forward to the prospect of finally being able to play this, or sad and disheartened that we're finally seeing the back of Nate.

 

I've a feeling this'll be the last Uncharted ND make, but I very much doubt it's the last one we'll see.

I suspect we'll get more Uncharted games in the future made by another Sony studio, especially if this sells gangbusters.

 

Time-manipulation-y stealth game Shadwen is doing some unorthodox pricing based on how many people play the free demo right now

Interesting that they don't tell you by how much each playthrough will reduce the cost. Pretty much ensures that they have a set minimum price they won't be going below, regardless of playthrough number.

 

There's a new Master of Orion coming out soon, developed by NGD Studios and published by Wargaming. I've never played any of the Master of Orion games, are they good? I'm really looking for a good 4X game, does anyone have a recommendation?
