So, the Magicians is getting better as it goes on, which is good, because the start was pretty damn lackluster. Quentin is still annoying as hell though.

Yeah, lol, just binged watched the five episodes. Quentin is kinda like what HP would have been like if Neville was the protagonist...

I don't really find him that annoying though. His magic/crackwhore childhood friend though? Ugh.

I like Elliot. Reminds me of one of my IRL friends, so he's funny in a 'it's funny because it's true' kind of way.

That gave me a good chuckle.

I could actually watch a show just about her. The protagonist in this show is just dull, he has a flat unimpressed expression for most of the series. The "crackwhore" lol, I think is a pretty realistic look at how someone would react if they found out they could do magic, but was denied the education on how. I'd be turning tricks for spells too if I was in her situation.

I watched the first 3 episodes(Magicians) and i'm still kind of undecided about the whole thing. I'll watch the rest over the weekend and hopeful get a clearer picture of the series. Has anyone read the books they talk about by the way, Hillory and Further? Are they any good?
Expanse on the other hand was spectacular. Gripping, dark, lots of suspense. Especially in the first 3-4 episodes. Don't know if i'm going to start on the books yet.

I'm, like, 90% sure I read a post last week in the book rec thread with Taure rubbishing it. From memory though, that had more to do with execution than substance.

    Too lazy to double check.

Not actually real books bruh. The stuff promoting the Fillory series IRL is marketing done by Grossman and his fans / associates.

I watched the first couple episodes of The Expanse. It was interesting, I'll probably follow up on it soon-ish.

Now i just feel silly. I could have sworn i even googled the name when i heard it in the first episode, guess i just skimmed a couple of links and it hadn't registered that they're simply part of the Magicians universe.
