Answering to Darius. Fleur's body wasn't mangled. Just naked with a broken neck . Though I agree that he could have spent more than a "there will be time to mourn later on" on her.

Yeah I can understand that. You're fighting against someone you hate with everything you have you probably wouldn't be looking to stun no matter if it would work or not, even buy you some torture time.

Maim first think later kinda mentality.

I actually had a longer scene with Bill picking his way through the wreckage and discovering first Hestia the dead DE and then dead and naked Fleur. He paused their staring for a while until Sirius' echo from one of the portrait frames started screaming at him. Basically, the scene took too long and started dragging on the energy that I had built up during the Harry and Snape fight. So instead, I wrote a summary scene with Bill arriving after the portraits had finished yelling at him.

However, you will get to see a version of that scene next chapter as Bill tells it to someone.

I vote for after Bungle and this one are finished (pending Harry's survival through both) you make some wacky thing where planes of existance cross and make up some bullshit rule how there can be only one and we see BUNGLE VS DARKNESS.

Stupid Idea but yeah like 3 pots of coffee this morning so. yeah.

Oh, you'll get to see how upset Bill is next chapter. And boy has Fleur's death....affected him. :laughs manically:

BILL TURNS GAY!! The only reason he slept with Fleur was only a Veela could make him straight! (bet you didn't see that coming, did ya?! Well, Jim didn't either...He may edit it out in fact and go with some "other" idea. But, c'mon, is any "better" then gay!Repressed! Bill?

    Yes.

I think I'm mostly looking forward to Harry's next meeting with Susan. "Harry! I'm supposed to be stopping you from going dark!"

    "Well...You aren't doing a very good job."

I'm enjoying reading this. The Will Reading, Narcissa totally backstabbed the Malfoys,, she's my new best friend =P Nah, anyway... i'm enjoying it, didn't read much with this pairing before, so i'm intrigued.

I wrote this very belatedly, so totally doesn't fit in with the topic right now... A gay Bill....

This chapter was pure excellence, particularly the fight scene. There's not really much more I can say. There was a spell at the beginning of the fight scene though - 'Equus per Coactum'...my latin isn't so good, but isn't that roughly 'hit by a horse'?

per means through, equus means horse, coactum is the substantiv of cogo which usually means felt or thick cloth (cogo means to compress among other things).

so long story short, it basically would mean "horse through felt" if you translate verbally.

In his defence most of the spells do not make literal sense if you translate the latin (expecto patronum is a classic example, if you want to use good latin you'd use something like conjuro patronum but expecto sounds better :p)

I could ask my dad or steal one of his Latin books for you... He's been teaching it for 35 years and knows it pretty well.

If you have any latin sexual vocabulary questions let me know... He has a book on the Latin Sexual Vocabulary lying around.

Speaking of which... Why does my dad have a book on the latin sexual vocabulary lying around?

I am using an offline dictionary. It's basically a program older then dirt (works in DOS window), but has some 40K entries (not bad for Latin).

IMO it's always better not to rely on internet completely.

If someone is interested, you can find it here.

if you want your spells checked i can help with that, i had latin for 8 years and still have all my books and dictionarys, but sadly i never learned (nor was interested) in english -> latin translations, only the other way round.

campester per vis would roughly mean flat by force

    (very roughly)

which is all right for a blasting curse. Though in all honesty, i'd use complano per vis which would translate to "to raze by force".

complano is a verb campester is an adjektiv (sp? sorry technical terms in english isn't my forté :p)

Ps: on the topic of latin sexual dictionary if he wants to teach some of the more verbose writers he would definitly need it. you'd be surprised what kind of smut writers like Catull actually wrote.

Pps: abrumpo per incendia if you want to be fussy concerning the latin (and frankly i wouldnt bother too much with that part, since about 1% of your fanfiction readers will have any grasp of latin and even those usually won't bother to translate what you wrote, i know i didn't until it was mentioned in this thread)

I love this program. I use it all the time to make new spells and to translate the ones other people have used. I see it has updated since I downloaded it, as well.
    Definitely worth the download.

Now if only I had a program where I could punch in a phrase and it would pop out the latin for it, properly conjugated and everything. I just know my spells are as far from proper latin as is possible, without actually being Cantonese or binary or something.

Well I read it and I can't see for the life of me where he has actually taken something from my story though he admits it in the author's notes. Maybe, I'm just missing it. He has goblin warlocks, elemental magic, a mysterious mentor willing to train him in exchange for a body, and lots of things you can find associated with a post OOTP semi-super, train-me-quick Harry story. So far I can't see what he is trying to use from my story.

It was nice that he praised my story. Wonder how or even if I should respond. English isn't his first language.

On a completely different note, I have a tease for chapter 28 in the work by author section. Let me know what you think in that thread.

He may be going to steal your Rune work or some of your spells, but as it stands right now, I couldn't see anything, either.
