This isn't it, though. The first trailer made it look more like Bucky instigated the fallout. The second trailer had more 'control superheroes' into it, but it seemed almost tacked on. The movie is gearing up to be very different from the comics.

And even so, in the comics Captain America supported complete independence of superpowered people, while Iron Man supported firm control by the government. While I don't agree with superheroes revealing their identities obviously (we saw how Spiderman's case turned out) Captain America is also quite firmly wrong. The whole point of Civil War in the comics was that both sides were extremes that meant well but were going about it in the completely wrong way.

If you're going by comics, remember what started the whole movement in the first place. The death of hundreds of innocents because of superhuman stupidity. Even if you don't agree with Stark's way, you should recognize that something needed to be done.

Well, the Reality Stone (Thor: The Dark World) was said to be able to return the universe to its pre-Big Bang state, the Power Stone could wipe out entire planets (Guardians of the Galaxy), the Space Stone has been gone over a few times and the Mind Stone was used to control Hawkeye outright and create Quicksilver/Scarlet Witch.

    So they're pretty damn powerful.

Eh, to me there's only one Spidey suit, and that's the classic (take or leave the underarm webbing). I do like the moving eyes on this mask, though I'd prefer if the lenses were larger. I guess it looks a bit more classic this way (in the 60's comics sense I mean).

Oh, and that spider on his chest is tiny.

I love that they're giving Falcon his bird BFF, even if it is a drone or something.

Team Stark is the only team.

Curious how they seem to have a Romanoff/Stark moment in the trailer, Im 90% shes playing him and is really on team Cap, but hes been tricked by her before so...

I'm actually not sold that Romanov would side with Steve. Yes, they had their moment, but it was her who admitted it wouldn't work out, and she was all over big green and angry in Ultron.

Moreover, recall her spiel about Shield's work at the end of Cap 2. Romanov is very dedicated, which is why I think she'd see Tony's ideas as a necessary evil and the least terrible idea of all the various possibilities.

Listen to her speech again. "Yes, we're the ones who made this world dangerous, but we're also the ones best equipped to defend it." That actually matches more with Steve's "The safest hands are still ours", especially given how her faith in, well, pretty much everything she had given her life to was shattered. I don't buy that Romanov would be willing to go back to taking orders from someone she doesn't completely trust (and I doubt she trusts Stark these days), and I don't think a bureaucracy is going to afford her that luxury.

When Romanov says 'us' she doesn't necessarily mean superheroes. I think that was aimed more towards SHIELD as an entity.

Plus, if there was to be a Romanov switch of loyalties, I think it'd have been already alluded to in the trailer.

    I guess we'll see.

Thats the thing tho, if she dosent trust Stark, and is planning on betraying him, I hope he sees it coming and not "YOU BETRAYED ME AGAIN!" type stuff..

I think agent 13 might be Carol Danvers(Captain Marvel). I say this mainly because the actress playing her is too big to play such a small role in Marvel.
    @Republic

I agree the movie looks crowded, but we already know most of the major characters involved and it will probably be continuing storylines and character arcs from past movies so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. It's not like their giving us 10 new characters.

The only big new characters we're getting are Spiderman and Black Panther. And who, going to a superhero movie doesn't know who Spiderman is? So we're left with Black Panther ( a popular, well known character himself), who only really needs to be interesting enough for people to want to go see his solo movie next year. Judging from the trailer, looks like they might have nailed it. I can't wait to see the foot race with him and Cap.

Again if the trailer is anything to go by then they are setting up the Cap v Ironman thing better than the comics. You can actually see both sides are different shades of right, but in the comics Tony Stark gets progressivly more dickish for little reason. Now however, from Age of Ultron you can see why Ironman is siding with the government. Sakovia was his fault and you could see his guilt during that movie.

Captain America however is coming of the back of Winter Soldier where corruption in SHIELD caused the incident in Washington. He was iffy from the getgo and events in the movie deepened that mistrust. Everything that happened in the movie was due to what SHIELD did post WW2 in letting in former HYDRA scientist which started the rot and grew underneath Fury's nose.

Both are logical progression of the story and charcaters, so yeah I'm looking forward to it.:p

Since no one ever really answered this: Back in the late 70s, some guy had the idea to make underwear/undershirt sets with comic book character themes. He secured the rights to some characters and engaged Fruit of the Loom to make the underwear, while someone else would print the shirts. That arrangement ended up kind of falling through, and Fruit of the Loom started making the whole thing.

The undershirt would be printed with a design that matched a particular hero's costume, while the underwear would just be in a color that coordinated with the top.

    They were a huge hit.

Somewhere along the line, though, Underoos became scarce enough to apparently fade from general public knowledge. In 2014 another company licensed the rights to make them in adult sizes. :p

Having been born in the 70s, I definitely had some.
My memory is a bit spotty, that far back, but I'm fairly certain I had Captain America and Batman ones... maybe others.

In 5th grade, long after I'd outgrown the ones that I had, I caught a glimpse of the Wonder Woman top underneath a female classmate's shirt and just thought, "Huh... Who would have expected that?" :?:

It just struck me kind of funny, since it was a piece of information vastly outside of anything else I knew about the girl.
Now, I recognize that just because the line was in the trailer doesn't mean it will make it into the movie, but it does have some amusing implications.

While Underoos covered a lot of properties -no pun intended- that had nothing to do with comic books, they also had Marvel, DC, and Archie licenses. I could almost see Captain America or Iron Man Underoos existing within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (even as bootleg products), but assuming that's not the case, we're left wondering what kind Tony was referring to.

Of course, the MCU characters all wear some kind of combat suit, so Spider-Man's homemade suit stands out, and I can see Tony playfully mocking it as being little more than a union suit or bodysuit (i.e. underwear) with a mask (Zentai suits being outside the average person's frame of reference).

That covers the 'why' of Tony saying that to Spider-Man, but not the 'what.' What Underoos exist in the MCU?

I only point this out because it opens the tiniest door to say that DC comics exist in the MCU... which is slightly amusing to me (while some people may have just assumed they did all along, or never even considered it at all, up to and including the existence of Marvel comics within their own universe).

Of course, we could just close the book on that meta nonsense and assume the Underoos Tony was referencing were Thundercats or one of many other cartoon characters, and not strain our brains.

Still... makes you wonder if Tony Stark ever read Batman. ;)

Great summary of underoos. I knew they what they were, but none of the history.

I assume the reference in the trailer just refers to the fact that spiderman's costume is basically skin tight and therefore Tony is making an underwear joke?

Just got out of a showing of this one - and I thought it was pretty decent.

Not sure why they called it Captain America: Civil War - it could have easily have been just called Marvel's Civil War, or something similar. The film wasn't focussed enough to justify it being a Captain America film, in my opinion. It's definitely a staging ground for future shenanigans.

    Namely, Infinity War, I'd imagine.

I really liked it - cool graphics, less humour (though still plenty of laughs), and that CGI young Tony Stark was incredible.

Spider-Man - they got it nailed. Loved Stark's line about how unexpectedly hot Aunt May is. The entire airport fight would have been rubbish without Spider-Man and Ant-Man. They were much needed.

If I have one complaint, it's that #TeamCap should have been much more easily wrapped up at the airport. They took a lot of liberties with the strength of Iron Man's team. It fluctuated too much in favour of Cap.

Well worth the price of admission if you're a superhero movie person.

Saw a midnight screening last night.

All in all really great. I'd rate it 9/10. My favourite of the Marvel movies, after Guardians of the Galaxy. I agree with Joe that it wasn't really a Cap movie as much as it was an Avengers movie, but that doesn't really detract from it.

Spiderman was brilliant, far better than I expected. I'm now really looking forward to seeing him in more films. I liked that they basically skipped his origin story, it didn't need to be told again.

I suspect Daniel Brühl is going to be mostly forgotten when people are talking about this movie. But for me he was the best part of the whole thing. Great actor.

I actually disagree with this. I think if Scarlet Witch was going all out she could have won that fight on her own.

Movie was awesome. Really excited to to see Black Panther and Spiderman solo movies. If I could make one complaint it is the fact the action scenes sometimes felt like they were on fast forward.

With gem infused Vision there I would expect them to be about equal. I had no problem with that scene.

Such Spidey love. How was his CGI? Haven't seen the movie yet, but the few teasers I saw of his insert into the movie left much to be desired.

I caught my first midnight premier and it was totally worth it. The crowd was very responsive, laughing and reacting to all sorts of stuff! Will be doing it a lot.

Now to get to the good stuff:

Just all around incredible film. Great acting, great story and visual and sound effects.

I love how low the stakes were throughout the film. There was never a credible threat to the wider world and the super soldier red herring was well played.

Zemo's character was very well done. Clear motivations that existed as a theme throughout the film that made him a compelling and sympathetic villain. The great acting was certainly a plus especially his last scene with black panther.

Fucking hell Tony gets the short end of the stick on this one, a lot of misfortune that piles on his growing guilt. RDJ really sold every emotion at every turn. #TeamStark all the way.

The whole Bucky killed Tony's parents thing was such a perfect thing for this film. Throughout the entire film you never feel as if the conflict was forced and it does a great job in showing that neither side is right or wrong. But the security footage makes it all real and each actor sells that scene so fucking well. You could've sympathised and supported each side there.

And they some how managed to give even more weight to the "So was I!" line than in the trailer.

    Kudos Marvel!

Great film. The Russo brothers were fantastic. A different style to Whedon but it's not unwelcome.

Spider-Man was perfect. Geeky, flippant, but had presence too when necessary. His solo movie will be excellent. Black Panther was off the chain. Very good acting, really solid introduction.

The movie wasn't as dark as they angled it in trailers but that's okay. They're not DC.

I enjoyed Batman Vs Superman more but this is the better film in terms of narrative. Again, Marvel do what they do best. A summer blockbuster that has comic book characters that is enjoyable without previous comic history or backstory needed.

Fantastic. A better Avengers movie than A2...

Everyone's already raved about Spidey, I just wanted to spend a second praising ScaJo. If there's a better action star around atm, I'm unaware of them. Her fight scenes are glorious and her movements brutally believable. Great stuff.

Stark got the short end imo
