WTF?! Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows couldn't intrigue me even the least. It conveniently points to something ominous, which the last book is supposed to be. There's no sense of mystery in it the way Half-Blood Prince kept us asking who/what the HBP was. Deathly Hallows could conveniently point to the 1/7 souls in each Horcrux. Then again Deathly Hallows has a ring to it that reminds me of LOTR (Elrond to Aragorn: The man who can wield the power of this sword can summon to him an army more deadly than any that walks this earth). I could be wrong about that horcrux thing but it all just rubs me the wrong way.

Anyway, I just think the title is lame. Oh well... The story (not the potential but what it has become) and the writer are both lame so I guess there's no point in ranting that the title is lame.

Their stupidity never ceases to amaze me. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together can deduce that. And that "true Potter fan" statement once again rubs me the wrong way. I think it would have been better if "hardcore fanboy/fangirl" was used instead.

When I read the title, I thought of that cemetery that's supposed to be near Hogwarts. I remember reading about how the director of the 3rd or 4th movie wanted to have one there but JKR said no because there's supposed to be an important cemetery near Hogwarts, in a future book. Not that JKR's idea of "important" makes much sense to me based on past experience, but well...

Um, does that mean she has some sort of STD?

Yes, her 'hollows' are Deathly. Harry'll have to learn to service himself, Ginny's Deathly Hollows will do him in >_>

For some reason when I read the title I thought of the Barrow Downs from Lord of the Rings.

Maybe there is going to be so much charecter death in book 7 they are going to start placing the dead in Barrows at Hogwarts like Dumbledore so they can't be used as Zombies (Forget their real name). So it is refering to Hogwarts.

    **Cross's fingers/nubs for charecter death**

And this is when every single Harry Potter is banned from schools forever!

JK Rowling's books have gotten banned from enough schools. Lets not go there.

I'm going to choose not to be so cynical/irritated/angry with the title and am just going to hope the book doesn't suck. I'm much gentler with JKR--I don't rightly know why exactly.

Besides--I know that if she does screw it up, either myself or someone here could write a much better end (with a much better title) for the DLP library. =]

...it's the gayest title I've ever heard. I mean, FANS (meaning a lot of good writers from this forum and others) come up with better titles. Ugh. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows". http://e.devianta******/emoticons/d/disbelief.gif

Either way, there are lots of new theories about it; "Hallows" maybe meaning an Orpheus-type excursion for Harry, Four Founders, some sort of thing dealing with the mysticism of death.

I had an interesting discussion a couple days ago with my fiancee before the title came out. We talked about Dumblefuck's death and how in the final book it make contain some sort of Dumble-spirit that Harry must go talk to. Or, even...SOME sort of spirit (one of the Gaunts, R.A.B. - HMMM?, his parents, Sirius, the Founders). There are a number of dead spirits he could play Orpheus to for some Horcrux info. ;)

Anyway...yes. Jo, I AM dearly disappointed.

    The title sucks balls!

If the ending fight with Voldemort IS at Godric's Hollow, then I will be highly disappointed; crap symbolism, and just utter gayness to the core.

I'm seriously thinking about the outcome of the book, and I have a nagging feeling that it will be bad :(

Not sure if this is spoiler worthy or not, but just to be safe... I'm almost positive that JK has already confirmed that Harry's going to die. Which brought me to my theory that he's somehow a horcrux himself. Sounds kinda dumb in retrospect, but then again, what about HP canon isn't anymore?

Its a bit sad, but the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the title was "The seventh book is a Bleach crossover?"

Edit: Hadn't heard that Verse. There goes that theory. Though, I could have sworn JK also said in an interview that Harry wouldn't end up dating either Hermione or the whore, so who knows. I'm going to go see if I can go find that interview somewhere again.

Uhm, JK confirmed Harry isn't a horcrux and he won't be gaining any of Voldemort's memories... confirming that the power of Love 'shall prevail.

About Harry dying,I believe that's a rumor. JKR said 2 main characters will die. Anywho,if Harry does die, he shall take Voldemort with him.

Harry and Voldemort seem like two perfectly mortal characters to me.

Anyway, Deathly Hallows is a great title for a book. So long as it involves a reasonable amount of Deathly Hallows - in the Half-Blood Prince, Harry and Company scampered around the castle trying to figure out what the hell Malfoy was up to, rather than wondering who the Half-Blood Prince was.

Oh, wait. One person was trying to find out who the Half-Blood Prince was, but only to stop herself from getting "WTFpwnt" in class. Harry was the one obsessed with Draco (fangirls: could it be luuurrrrrrrrrve?), and Ron, as usual, was staring up into the clouds when it rained. And I've heard it rains quite frequently in Scotland. But not on Quidditch days.

J.K.Rowling registered two titles as potential titles for a future book:

Harry Potter and the Hallows of Hogwarts
Harry Potter and the Hogwarts Hallows

I suppose that the Deathly 'Hallows' has something to do with Hogwarts?

Then, maybe Death Hallows has a second meaning. Maybe Rowling got the slash virus?

    Draco / Harry
    Deathly / Hallows

    Hope not.

J.K. Rowling has got to be kidding. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows? She has gone out of her mind. //

I am guessing the 'Hallows' part has something to do with Halloween and maybe the final battle will take place then? I putting my money on that, the Deathly can mean that people will die, and that's what i'm thinking, but i'm still pissed that she put that title! It is goddamn ridiculous!

    Good News!
    Ginny Weasley will die!

    Or not... :(

By the way, how do you think Harry's gonna beat the crap out of Voldemort?

I'd bet he will try to do the Priori Incanted (with the golden dome when the two wands are connected) and thats how he will beat Voldemort.

Seriously, how is he supposed to kill a 80 year old experienced Dark Wizard who is the most powerful on the World?

With a evil plot imagined by Granger? Ha ha

Probably. Perhaps not imagined but at least brewed by Hermione.

He will probably swallow a cauldron full of deux ex machina - aka Felix Felicis - and then finishing Voldie off with a swish and flick of his wand.
