I thought I'd make a separate thread so that people who don't want spoilers don't run into them in the other thread.

The first showing of Part 1 was last night and spoilers are already coming out. By all reports the play is very well directed and acted, and the special effects are amazing. Everyone coming out of it sounds like they enjoyed it a lot.

However, the plot itself sounds... well. Have a look for yourself:

I don't care how well acted it was, I couldn't stop cringing reading that. Almost like that Time Turner was used to grab a bit of fanfiction from 2008...

Also that is the biggest cluster fuck of a plot... it is quite literally bad fanfiction.

 

Dear God I hope it's trolling because that's the most bizarre plot I've ever seen.

 

Also the age of characters is way off.

This is about 20-25 years post DH. Petunia dead? she should be 55-60 now. Amos Diggory in an old folks home? Granted we dont know his age in book, but he seemed to be comfortably middle aged, so now he might be in his 60's. Not even half the age of some wizards.

 

And the numbers being screwed up makes you less likely to believe it comes from Rowling?

Lol if this is true then it's terribad, but who knows, maybe if I actually saw the play which I won't unless it ends up on YT in a shaky phone video or something I would think it's hilariously so bad it's good.

So yeah. Reading that link I snorted cruelly in laughter. A lot.

 

Fairly sure that's the plot of some obscure, angst-driven fanfiction out there. I could be wrong though, it'd be pretty funny to see the inevitable clusterfuck.

It is proven, time turners can go back years then and not just hours... They sure must have spun that timeturner a lot

 

I'm struggling to follow this a little bit. It sounds like it was written by someone who never gets off tumblr:

You may be wondering what I'm talking about.. I'm talking about both the source and the play. The source is a clusterfuck in and of itself, but the play that it revolves around makes it seem like it was written by a 12 year old high on silly sugar who had just been introduced to HP fanfiction.. like damn, this is me at the stupidity of the plot:

 

If this is a troll, it's pure gold. I died laughing several times reading it.

If this is the real plot, well. I guess it was possible to do worse than the epilogue, after all.

Honestly, the amount of methodical destruction of canon would be quite terrifying if it wasn't a troll.

And they apparently can send you back to your present, too,no need to re-live everything.

 

I kinda dig it? I love time travel stories and though some of it seems kinda ehh, I'm not totally hating it. I do look forward to when the script comes out though.

 

I like time travel too, but that "plot" made me sick. I didn't even bother finishing it. I wasn't very interested in this concept anyway, so I'm not exactly disappointed -- just sort of resigned.

 

I literally cannot stop laughing. I hope this turns out to be true just to see people rage.

 

I don't mind the time travel plot, I just wish they used a mechanism other the time turners to achieve it, as it contradicts the use of time turners in Prisoner of Azkaban.

The other two things that are rather annoying are:

1. Harry's character assassination.

2. The whole "Voldemort's child" plotline.

If those three things were absent, I'd be happy with most of it.
