I dunno... Even at his worst moments he never told Ron or Hermione that he wished they were never his friends. For him to say it to his kid(s)?

True, though I think it's clear that it was mostly impulse mingled with bitterness. Albus said the same thing right before him, so it isn't hard to imagine where Harry might have gotten the idea from.

That all comes down to personal experience, I guess. My parents are definitely sometimes very easily enraged, but even when screaming at me in complete fury, they never have and never will say anything like this.

For me, that was always something you say to people you truly hate, not something you'd throw into one other's face in a fit of rage (as opposed to, let's say "idiot", "hypocrite", "every expletive ever").
But of course families are different, so maybe it's only that way for me.

Could be. I'm pretty damn detestable. :p

Either way, I'm not trying to excuse the sorcery at work here. The HP films were technically impressive as well, but that didn't excuse the hatchet job they made of the later films. A silver-haired daughter of Voldemort as a character, let alone the main antagonist is a little too much to digest.

Wow I just read the whole thing about part 2 instead of skimming through it and it is even worse... Scorpius in the alternate timeline has a moniker and it's Scorpion King... don't know if this is hilarious or sad.

Just read some details about the play, Rowling and two other people were involved, apparently they came up with the whole story (except Rowling) in the first meeting and needed about 6 months to map it out with Rowling dismissing some things and telling what would fit.

I just don't get how Rowling could agree to some of this bullshit. How can three grown ups even think about calling anyone especially a teenager Scorpion King and not burst out laughing? Even when I was 13 I would find it corny as fuck

The "cursed child" is the one in the audience whose enjoyment of Harry Potter was shattered to pieces.

The Cursed Child is the cursed child of the franchise.

It looks like Harry fucked up when he told Al it was okay to be Slytherin.

All of the problems he has come from him being a Slytherin. He got bullied for it. I was right, Slytherin is a stigma. I don't get why all these years later nobody bothered to do anything about it. It makes no sense.

Damn, you've got a knack for twisting facts.

There's a stigma, yes, but he has little control over which house he is sorted to. Besides, you're kind of blaming the victim there.

Also, he's Harry's kid. Want it or not, they had some expectations of him that were shattered with his sorting, and people are bullied by much less.

Why was he a Slytherin anyway? He seemed to act like a Gryffindor. Going back in time to save people and shit.

If Rowling had written the play herself, I bet someone would tell him he should have been a Gryffindor because "they sort too soon".

He was a Gryff/Slyth hatstall, and a Gryffindor in one of the timelines.

If he was a hatstall , did the Hat tell him to choose and he chose to be with Scorp?

Source on him as a Hatstall? Can't find it in the summary of Cursed Child or mentioned anywhere official via Google.

It will be cute if Al asks the hat to put him in Slytherin for Scorp's sake.

It's not like they have Slytherin traits anyway, from what I've read.

Albus seems pretty ambitious to me, based on that summary - he goes so far as to rewrite time to achieve his goals, even if ultimately it doesn't work out.

Source is a summary by someone who saw the play: http://oddhour.tumblr.com/cursedchild. Upon re-reading, though, it wasn't made explicit.
