I haven't been following Korea all that much, so all I know is that SKT have been busting heads in what has been the strongest region for three years now.

What I will say though is that I wouldn't be surprised if world finals was another all Korean affair. I mean 2015 Fnatic was the closest thing to a perfect western team we've ever seen (unless tsm actually fulfills their potential) and they still got 3-0ed by Koo.

    Still, gotta baylieve amirite?

I think, after watching the C9 series, that TSM's biggest problem is that when they're behind they tend to go for over risky plays to try and get back into the game and get punished for it. Like, C9 did not stomp TSM in G2. TSM fell on their own sword trying to get back into the game. This isn't a problem in NA because TSM is the superstar team and they're usually ahead in the early game. They're also incredibly good at controlling and stretching a lead until it becomes a W. But this style will get punished by a team with better players at Worlds, so I'm curious as to how/if TSM can change that.

I think that's probably one of their strengths, not one of their weaknesses. I think expecting the best teams to just misplay and let you back into the game without you making any plays/taking risks is not a consistent winning strategy. I agree that they could tighten up/be more selective with the risks that they do take, but I think, in general, taking risks when behind is the way to go.

Getting choked out when behind was one of their greatest flaws in previous seasons. From interviews, I think they recognize that and have no intention to pivoting back to that mentality.

Does anyone remember any 'catch up' exp changes beside the jungle ones? A friend of mine watched a video where someone explained that champions in lane would get bonus experience if they were behind (in levels) but that doesn't sound right to me. I can't find it in any patch notes recently but I was looking quickly at work. Just to reiterate: I know there is an exp catch up system for junglers, I'm talking specifically about laning champions.

Yes, there has been a bonus experience reward for killing an enemy champion that was higher level than you(perhaps more than just a single level difference?), as a 'catch up' mechanic. It's been tweaked in regards to the numbers a few times, but I believe it was introduced last season, if not even a bit earlier than that.

At least, I do distinctly remember reading about it in the patch notes across multiple instances a while back.

Okay but to clarify: I meant bonus experience from minions dying while you are within range and a lower level than your opponent/the average. I remember the change you're talking about also, it was framed in the context of supports IIRC.

One of the old Utility masteries used to give bonus XP if you were near a champion with a higher level. Maybe that's what he was talking about? It got removed with the S6 mastery changes.

Can someone explain to me why the fuck is Ryze getting another rework? And while you're at it what is that new ulti even...

    Sigh.

Like, reworked champs are cool and all, but Ryze was fine, and there are outdated champs that need to be reworked badly. Like Tryndamere.

I don't feel that current Ryze was even remotely fine. Practically the definition of toxic champ design.

I do agree that it's a bit strange to see him get reworked so soon, but, as I understand it, they already had a visual rework coming up for him and decided to do a kit rework at the same time.

I actually like the new kit. Not gonna bother speculating balance because PBE gonna PBE, but the spell combos seem a lot more dynamic and interesting, and they massively cut down his CC, burst and sustain, while making his laning phase less of a binary stat check until an all in.

I didn't think Ryze needed the last rework tbh, but the way he's been broken as fuck in competitive play but basically ignored in non-competitive suggests there's something that needs to be fixed. His new ult looks horrifying, although it's basically what I think Tahm Kench's ult should be.

Ryze could be nerfed though. A total rework feels unnecessary. Besides, that new ult feels so random. Like Riot decided halfway through the rework to fuck everything and just come up with anything that works and stick it on Ryze.

SKT will not be the champions of Korea, nor will they be Korea's #1 seed.

    ...

What the fuck? Also, if KT wins the finals over the Tigers then SKT go to the regional qualifier. The Worlds curse is alive!
