I'm looking at Stellaris, Dragon's Dogma, Dark Souls II & III, and ARMA 3: Apex Edition to try and get a friend into it. The most likely one I'll actually get is Dragon's Dogma, but I could wind up getting all of them since I actually have some money to spend for once.

Dark Souls 3 came out recently, so don't expect a great discount for that.

Not to mention there's a DLC scheduled to be released this autumn.

I'm only looking out for Endless Legend and Dragon's Dogma myself.

Dark Souls III will probably be the one I'm least likely to get just yet, I just included it since it's with all the others on my list.

Did they ever fix XCom2? I remember it was running like arse when it first came out.

I'm not sure how hyped you are about Endless Legends, but having gotten the game with most/all of the DLC I don't recommend it. The itch from playing Endless Legends is far better scratched with CIV than that game. Unless you're going to build custom factions, they don't seem terribly well balanced (Broken Lords just crushes at all levels, I've literally never lost a battle).

Is the steam client being really slow for anyone else? At least just the discovery queue is.

I've already played Endless Legend (pirated) and enjoyed it, hence why I want to buy it for legit now.

I'm not a fan of the Civilization series past the fourth game.

It's less stressful this way, because you don't have to be awake and present every 4 hours or so, but the deals have been fairly unimpressive the last year, give or take.

Huh, I personally loved Endless Legend much more that Civ V, though maybe you meant Civ IV which I've never played, but a large part of my attraction to that game was due to the different faction playstyles (unlike Civ, where there are minor choices like wide or tall, faction differences have a much larger impact) and also the absolutely beautiful graphics. Things like regions and seasons also add a lot more variety, not to mention the vastly superior combat system.

I'm not sure how the core decision of your game play (tall or wide) is a minor choice in Civ V...

The combat system is alright, I wouldn't say vastly superior. It over rewarded micro play and made doomstacks of fast and powerful units very powerful. Rushing cavalry with the ranged healers for Broken Lords meant I could literally wipe the field of the opponent (even when anti-cavalry) before their reinforcements showed up. And in some cases be at full or more health than I started with.

The hero system was nice, but ultimately I felt like the game wasn't terribly well balanced for the faction I played so I just stomped everyone.

Tall vs wide is a big decision in Civ, yeah, but it's much smaller in comparison to the totally different playstyles that each faction favours in Endless Legends, which was my point. The combat system has its flaws, sure, but given that Civ basically just had dice rolls I thought EL added a tactical element that greatly enhanced gameplay, particularly when your army doesn't dominate the other and you have to think carefully about unit placement and movement and turn interactions.

Broken Lords are admittedly a powerful faction, so I'd honestly suggest that you try out some of the others since, as I said, there's much greater variance in comparison to the Civ factions. I like the Cultists myself, speaking as someone who prefers tall, but that playstyle offers many more challenges, and is thus much more interesting, than in Civ.

    Steam Sale

I picked up Battleblock Theater & Double Dragon Neon to play in 2p mode with two different friends. Also nabbed Ring Runner because it looked interesting and had one hell of a discount attached. I rounded out my first Summer Sale purchase with two DLC for Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed.

I'll probably make another purchase later, either to take advantage of deals or stock up on 'gifts' I might either activate or pass off later, but I feel my initial $10-12 was well spent.

What are you guys picking up before July 4th?

Probably going to grab Helldivers at some point, since its coop is great, but other than that basically nothing is all that appealing.

I grabbed the latest Deus Ex game for $5. Never played any of them, so thought I'd give it a try - if I like it I might have to pick up the next one that's coming out soon. Haven't looked at much else yet, really.

You know, the market listing holds Steam has implemented are an even bigger pain in the balls during a seasonal sale than they are the rest of the time. By the time the hold is over, the cards have gone *poof*!

I'd like to catch the fucker who thought everyone using steam owned a smart phone, and feed them their own gonads.

It's my opinion you should be able to waive the option of the extra security, in exchange for Steam having the right to shrug and tell you that your hacked account isn't their problem.

    On a related note...

    Cards I need:
    Enjoying the little things

    Cards I have extras of:

    X marks the spot! (2)
    You had one job! (2)
    Everything is fine (2)
    Don't go chasing fireflies (2)
    *SPLASH* (2)
The swell is righteous today (2)

If you can stand retro gaming, the original is largely considered the best. You should definitely pick it up. The next one, Invisible War, is okay, but possibly the worst in the series.

For my part, I picked up Skullgirls, Forged Alliance, Dawn of War 1 + expansions, and Total Annihilation.

Can't you get the app for PC?

I caved and got it for my phone after I saw it'd take a day to send all my cards to BigZ.

Bought Windward so far. Sweet little game that I play with the steamcontroller on the TV.

They already do that. Their policy is to not return or refund anything in your inventory if your account is hacked.

Would you say the Fallout 4 deal is good or do you think waiting till the end of the steam summer sale would provide a better offer?
