You monster. Pokemon eggs are for life, not just for Christmas.

2km are actually kinda valuable too. Unless you get Ratata or Zubat.

    You can get:

Pidgey, Weedle, Caterpie (great for levelling)
    The starters
    Pikachu
    Jiggly
    Magikarp

    And a few others.

    No.

Just use your infinite hatcher on 2k eggs. Theyre still worth it to hatch, because you can get starters/clefairy/geodude from them, which are all really good. Also Pikachu.

Moreover, even if you hatch something bad, you still get candies and dust with them, and more pidgey/weedle/caterpie/rattata candies is great.

And naturally the game comes back up the minute I clock into work. What's your view on using a couple of lures during the night just to get 'started'. Going to stay awake since I'm off for a week after this night and planned on spending atleast a couple of hours walking around the city and see what I get, anyone that has used a lure and can mention the ratio of pokemons from a lure vs walking in a city/parks?

My job is sitting right on a Pokestop and I spent last night farming free pokeballs, just seems like a good opportunity since I can finish all my work in a fifth of my shift if not quicker.

I'd say the vast majority of my pokemon are from lures? But that's primarily because I'm usually catching them while working haha. You'd find a lot more walking around that's for sure unless you can find a spot where many lures can overlap. There is one such place that I know of in NYC where 4 or 5 overlap. At any given point you're usually scrambling to try and catch 3-4 sometimes more pokemon.

magicarp is in the 2k eggs. I believe you get more candies form hatching than capturing. Garados is 400 candies to evolve

If you use incense it's worth walking around with it instead of sitting at home - I've used several so far and when I'm at home I get rattatas and pidgeys. Walking with incense I got Seadra, Meowth, Abra, and about 3 others I hadn't seen anywhere before. I looked it up online and apparently it's not 'just me' that noticed that.

Walking around I doubt I'll have troubles finding stuff, not that I've tried it so far, but I'm 'stuck' at work for another 6 hours before I can freely roam. Assuming servers doesn't get ddosed again that is. Killjoys :nyan:

edit: First lure working its magic, two catches fairly quickly. We'll see if I get anything exciting..

That's because the spawn rate when staying relatively still is 1 pokemon every 5 minutes for an incense.

However, its 1 Pokemon a minute if you travel 200 meters, so if youre constantly moving then you spawn a lot more.

Not sure if it's been mentioned in this thread (There are so many different places for PokemonGo discussion D: ), but they datamined that incense gives you increased amounts of encounters if you're moving as opposed to sitting still.

Also, you can determine the evolution of your Eevee by nicknaming them Sparky (Jolteon), Rainer (Vaporeon), or Pyro (Flareon).

Heard that aswell, but I saw it fail on Reckfuls stream last night. Named an Eevee 'Rainer' and it evolved into Flareon :)

    Sure he spelt it right?

Also heard you should relog after naming / before evolving to make sure it 'takes'. Lag etc.

I heard it's the Evee's moveset that determines the evolution. Body Slam for Vaporeon...I can't remember the other two.

He spelt it correctly, however he didn't restart the app so that might be it.

Got my first yellow ring catch (Jynx) from the lure. Effing bitch was laughing at me I'm sure. Need to get better at throwing those balls..

    ---

As I've gathered so far you should make sure to upgrade the CP as much as possible before evolving to maximise its potential. But the ones you catch at lower levels should just be transferred to the professor because the ones caught at higher levels has a higher potential. That means your starter will be somewhat weak later on, no matter what you do. Is this correct?

Also heard some musings about XL/XS impact on HP/CP - does anyone know anything?

edit: Crap, had a Squirtle on the Lure that ran away. Got a consolatory second Jinx after that though.

It's definitely the name thing. Easter egg back to the original Eevee pokemon cartoon episode.

I've heard it doesn't make a difference whether you upgrade before or aftee evolving your pokemon.

Anyway, I'm gonna go ahead and test the Eevee theory today. So we'll see how that goes.

Size has no impact. That has been confirmed in the data mine.

It also doesn't matter if you upgrade before or after evolution- 'upgrading' is raising your pokemon up a half-level. Your pokemon can only be as high level as you are, which is why everytime you level up you can power up a maxed out pokemon (from last level) two more times.

It's not so much that ones you catch later have higher potential so much as that pokemon you catch later are higher level. Because they are higher level, you don't have to level them up so much to keep them relevant, because that would be a huge waste of resources.
