Evolve first. Always. Upgrades only once you've hit trainer level 25+. Wild pokemon CP scale until you're lvl 30.

All pokemon have roughly the same maximum potential in their species, with individual variance from IV stats that are randomly rolled on spawn. Size, weight, where you found it? None of that matters.

All pokemon grow with you as you level up.

The only things you should ever care about when keeping a pokemon are their IVs and their attacks. everything else can be fixed by force-feeding candies.

Also, does your catch rate go down as you lvl up cause mine seems to have gone to shit. Goddamn Pidgeys and Ratatas are breaking out of Great Balls and running away far more often than they were when I was below lvl 10.

Alright, as I had understood it the evolution gave a new CP cap as determined by the current Pokemon CP. If I understand you correctly the Pokemon CP Cap is static and determined within small variations within the species - as determined by IV(haven't encountered IV stats in Go yet). I got the XL/XS idea from a reddit thread. Is there any way to determine IV here?

If it works like that though, wouldn't it be preferable to just keep transferring pokemons to the professor, level up and then choose from the ones you catch at a higher trainer level?

That is exactly how it's done. CP from wild pokemon stops increasing at trainer lvl 30. Egg quality stops improving at trainer lvl 20. It's only worth powering up 'mons at 25+ because leveling slows to a crawl at that point, so your feeding will equal pace to capturing better wilds.

 

Dude I think so. Fucking Weedles of all things are tough as hell. Just had 2 break out, one was 14 CP, and the other was like 30. The second one I also used fruit.

Yeah, movesets for Eevee was debunked, but the nicknames seem confirmed at this point. Unless there are hundreds of lucky happenstances occurring.


Edit: Oh, and yeah. From what I've heard and experienced, the higher the CP the more difficult it is to catch. So the high level trainers encountering 300 CP zubats have a hell of a time capturing anything with consistency.

Never thought I'd actually run out of eggs to incubate, but I managed somehow. Need more pokestops. Or to run less.

i have heard about this game i don't play it but it seems dangerous, i have read where people have been hurt. I know it gets folks to walk and all but people need to use there brains, to stay safe.

 

Most of what you have read is bullshit.

Lots of people have said people run onto roads to grab a Pokemon. That's pure bullshit, you only need to be with in 12m of the Pokemon to tag it, so no need to cross go onto a road or onto private property unless it was huge and even then most Pokemon spawn in public places and they are refining the spawns to prevent shit like that.

Also, Erotic is right and the people you heard about on the news who got mugged or got into an accident usually lacked common sense. Don't go into alleys looking for Pokemon and don't play Pokemon Go while driving.

 

Hit a wall with new pokemon, just the sameones now, I am guess most areas have around the same number so at 80-85 it stops, will get 3-5 more evolutions of a few like Mankey and Hitmonchamp and maybe a few rare 10k eggs in the next few weeks but in terms of catching I seem to be topped out, and I cant see any other types in gyms around here that I may have missed.

 

I regret my decision to go with a PTC account rather than Google more every day.

I guess it's not the worst thing in the world; the main time I use Go is when I'm running at 3 a.m. and the servers are always up at that time. Still, it's down the rest of the day and it's frustrating.

 

I think the longevity short term will come from getting the 3rd tier evolutions. I have nothing really common enough in my area to make that happen quickly, my highest being Bulbasaur at 48 candies.

Though I heard about a nifty Gastly haunt (hurhur) nearby that i'll be checking out. Dratini too, but that beach isn't that close.

 

My home is infested with Dratini. Lucky me. On the other hand there seem to be pretty much no fire or electricity types near me.

 

It's sad when Vaporeon is the 3rd strongest offensive 'mon in the game, trumping out even Dragonite.
