It's simply a sense that he seems to be approaching the game in a way.

His reads are comfortably non-aggressive. He could be pushing hard to lynch someone to suit a mime win condition, but he's weighing his words more carefully, considering multiple sides before making a firm decision - and admitting when he's not sure. Scum-Newcomb is capable of great deceptions depending on the game, but here, his alignment is more transparent.

With all that said, I am considering your points and I don't think it's all OMGUS with no substance. In fact, to build on what I said before, I think it's a stretch to say Newcomb has attacked you much at all.

What did you think of Tom temporarily dropping his gambit to be more serious?

    Unsure.

I have not thought about tom too much, because after Newcombs initial readwall with his hard scumread on Tom i felt fairly certain that there is likely 1 between them.

So that is a bridge that I only have to cross late late game. (assuming i am alive, which is not unlikely)
I wanted Citrus opinion about it, but he decided to be a useless prick.
I accepted him as a total disappointment and think lynching him is not a bad thing today.

He is never useful and likely town.
If he flips scum (unlikely) then him not committing between Newcomb and Tom puts almost always a scum between them and we just win by keeping those 2 alive.

I would like people to tell me if yog should be considered outted town with the dumbtell or i am reading too much into it.

Oh and while Newcomb has not attacked me afterwards, he has ignored everything I did after his accusation.
That is a thing he has picked up from eido, I think, where he does not interact with his scumreads for the most part.
He would do that as scum as well as town, but I think that is the reason he is not attacking me more. (that and the fact that there is not more fuel to call me scum regardless how much he is looking for it).

    ---------- Post automerged at 08:35 ---------- Previous post was at 08:35 ----------

But I will look at Tom again after breakfast and/or sleeping.

It's partly the "no point in interacting with scumreads" thing and it's partly the fact that you've been intentionally provoking me by calling me bad and shit.

Mafia on its own is supposed to be fun, and this game in particular is supposed to be not super serious, and you doing this bullshit needling with me is... well, not fun. It makes me just not want to interact with you, but that would be true of either alignment and you should pretty well know that about me, so you should know it's pointless, so to me it kinda looks like you're scumtrolling me again, so like...

idk. The dumbtell thing with Yog where you're pushing on it sounds genuine-ish like you believe this line of thought - like, you're genuinely not sure if it's a dumbtell or not but you think you might have something - but the way you've been poking me makes me not really care. There are worlds where you're town, there are even worlds where you AND tom are town, although that would pretty well shock me and would pretty much require [redacted]. I'm just not super interested in them until and unless we get a flip that doesn't mesh with my gamestate read.

FWIW I absolutely don't think you can or should clear Yog off that. He is very, very good at sounding town, especially at the kind of "musing, puzzling things through" speculation. What I /should/ have caught him on in that game was his inability to make convincing cases on people he knew were town.

Hmm ok .. i get that.

    2 things about that.

    1. You starting off with such a readwall read fairly tryhard/less fun loving, which is why i decided to go hard on you the way I did.

    2. I think that you would not out a read like the one you gave on fonti in a game where you do not really care and just want to have fun, esp since the read is less likely to be accurate because there is no real mafia team in this game. (everybody wants to get lynched, which means the game is more about townreading and not about scumhunting/scumhunting is harder.

I think you would not cash in a read like that in this game and rather wait until the next "real" game you play together to get an accurate read on her.

That is why I think the fonti read is bad. (I don't know if it is accurate)
I think the von read is hasty/too early, because I do not think Von cares that much about the difference in the setup to change his play in any way.
Maybe he would, but there is no guarantee.

Snowvon - how sure were you about the setup/specifics when the game started/early d1?

Thanks for the Yog info, sadly real scum cases are not as likely this game (town cases/winning town poe is almost always the better way to tackle the game).

    Just my 2 cents ...

That readwall was like 3/4 into D1, IIRC, after like 24 hours straight of trolling.

And this is going to sound nitpicky, but it's an important distinction - the readwall itself was not at all tryhard; explaining everything and making it clear to folks who would not get those meta cases was +effort, but like... those were not reads that I had to put long hours into actually making in the first place.

The you/Von/fonti/Citrus/tom/Rubicon early reads were like 99% hard meta that people who aren't in that group have no context for / care about.

I didn't have to try particularly hard to get those reads, because all that information is in my head already. But I thought it was important for like - say, Fishy Justice, to be able to know what I was talking about.

    Re: the fonti thing -

That's actually a really good point, and if I'd been thinking about it it probably would have made more strategic sense to not out that read and save it for a more important game. But that's just not really my thing; I don't think that far ahead. I'm more of a "have idea, say idea" player. I'm actually kinda bummed out now that you pointed it out because I think it has a very very good chance of being a good read here and now that it's out, yeah, it's less worthwhile for future games.

    So thanks for that :v

I don't think that me pointing something out would make any difference to her play.
She has bugged me about tells on her in the past because she strives to be unreadable and will go the extra mile to achieve that.
(Or play a zoned out town game to level her scumplay, because that surely is this right approach /snark )

The other part .. well it read ++ effort for sure. maybe the thought process came to you easy, but looking for citrus old towngame-qt as evidence is just more than just a casual process (or rather the effort without being asked for it is)
I respect the effort, but I would call it more tryhard than casual.
Interesting to here your reasoning nevertheless. Unsure what to make of it yet. But I think we have a long while to read each other if we want to.

I thought about making a big post eviscerating newcomb's early metaread on me. Which is either terrible, completely bogus, or both.
Then I thought about making a different big post about fishy's scummy mindset.

    But instead, you just get

Sorry I wasn't around last night - wound up doing family stuff until late.

    vote citrus

I'm not sure how everything flip-flopped around since I entered, but I'm comfortable with the plan the way it was going.

btw, I am fully aware of the delicious irony that I did, in fact derp clear. I didn't thoroughly read the setup.

How I got here was that I was in the MU Skype chat being all whiny that I didn't have a game to play and the champs game wasn't going to start for a month - and suddenly Voxx pops up and says "hey, you want to sub into a game where everybody's a jester?"

I thought about that for about 3.2 seconds and BAM yeah baby, here I am, jumping right in just so I can torment Newcomb by being "tonally Town". I had to wait a while for my approval before I could post, but I read through the thread in the meantime, but I didn't touch the signup thread and just kinda "who-cared" the OP and got to the business of figuring out where I was.

I think we take this one day at a time. Traditional scum-hunting means bupkis. Most strategies we keep as pets aren't gonna work. Just take the towniest players and start knockin' 'em out.

btw, has anybody thought about how an F3 is gonna work? Lawks.

Oh, and look at this, and then add my vote onto Citrus. Even if I didn't get my own light Town read from him, for that wagon to be on scum is almost mechanically impossible. That would mean only one other scum max on a 7-man wagon that didn't include himself. You think Scum that quickly and effortlessly built a wagon with minimum six Townies? No, no, no. You don't need to even read the guy to realize this is a Town wagon. It's a bird in hand, gotta take him here and force Scum to NK somebody more difficult to read. Consolidate your wagons, peeps.

My only objection to the Citrus wagon is that Snowvon and Miner are on it.

That's your Scum team? I mean, maybe, but...

You think Scum are going to hard-vote each other this early?

I mean... have you thought that strategy through?

---------- Post automerged at 10:03 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:02 AM ----------

And, I mean, two Scum right? If both your picks are on the same wagon... don't that, ya know... mean something about the recipient of that wagon?

    It's one I'm considering.

By the way, I think you're the sort of player who's going to make me ridiculously paranoid for at least the first couple times I play with you. Is that silly of me?

    Not at all.

btw broke into your house last night, you have a pretty nice "My Little Pony" collection there. I left you something under some boxes in your closet.

I would... find it quickly if I were you.

Mate, I haven't gotten much (Read: any) better from MM7. My confusion stems from genuine confusion. And no one wants to lynch me at this point anyways, so you're not telling me anything I didn't know/expect there.

And Zenzao was right in telling me to defer to more experienced players, so I'm doing that.

I also find it interesting how both games I've played here I got townread at the start and then a couple of posts apparently came across as exceptionally scummy and wound up making me be the next target for lynching ( or in this case forever life).
