Next we will be hearing about cutting the 'Order of the phoenix' because it is an underground, non-government cell type structure, which will nicely take out any relevance in the title. I have not seen any of the movies except for the first one, and even that sucked major ass.

    Awww... This sucks.
Well, did we really expect it to be anywhere near "Really Good"?

No. I don't think I expected or even hoped it would be anything near 'tolerable'

Rita wasn't making Harry's life hell in OotP. She just writes the bit about the graveyard scene.

Peeves has never been in the movies. Pissed me off when I first watched them, but I'm over it. Sucks about Sirius's mom, but only a little.

I am pissed about Edgecrombe, though. And Neville's parents. That completely ruins any chance that Vash's story featuring them will get airtime.

I hoped it would be tolerable, or at least more tolerable than GoF. How many times do you think they'll force Ginny into scenes this time around?

In that thing you call a closet. Better watch out,
We all knew this would happen. All book-movie adaptations suck. Even Lord of the Rings doesn't do the books complete justice.

Judging from the first four films, I expected they would cut a lot from this very long book. The producers, IMO, are only out for the money of those people idiot enough to watch this. I suppose Rowling is only out for the money as well. If they truly appreciated/respected the HP-verse, they would have understood that some parts are really IMPORTANT. Instead of turning in a two-hour mediocre film, they could have had an LOTR-length movie to atleast have a chance to capture the essence of the book.

I've said this in the thread complaining about the GOF movie, books will never be turned into good movies (with a few exceptions).

All the HP movies sucked. Plain and simple. POA pissed me off pretty bad, and GOF was a fucking nightmare, but if what has been posted as being cut is true, OOTP is gonna take the fucking cake. I can't even imagine in my deepest nightmares how the HBP movie is gonna turn out.

I would pay extra if they did that. LOTR was one of the few films I've seen that did an excellent job drawing from canon. I figure it would cost what? An extra two or three million to extend the film an hour or so? These films are making exponentially more than they cost, it would only drive up profits.

Could be worse, it could have no Ron and Hermione scenes and be full of Harry and the slut. Still seems pretty stupid to get rid of Edgecombe, although does this mean they're not having ANY DA scenes?

They'll most likely just mention the DA and have maybe a 3 minute scene were neville or someone blasts someone into a wall to show proggress.

And, wtf no edgecome how are they supposed to discover the DA without a betraer?

Most probably, it would consist of a couple of lame lines then skipping a hell of a lot until the final battle scene.

My question is: IF they show the trip to the Ministry, will the therestrials be invisible or visible?

Judging from the list of "not-in-movie" plotlines, I'd say this could be right down there with Eragon as one of the worse book-movie adaptions. But, knowing me, I'll end up going to see it to make sure it will suck ass. I was there opening day for the last 3 movies, might as well be there for the next 3.

On the DA. Why would they even need it? So far it has played no significant role in either story. Sure they got some training in the fifth book but that can easily be passed off as something they learned from the library. The sixth book has no mention of it so why would they even need it.

Rake: Wasn't there a threstal scene in one of the trailers? I vaguely remember a scene with the students flying in front of the parliament. I think the thestrals were invisible in that. Keeps the CGI costs down, too :)

It should be no big problem for Umbridge to find the DA even without Edgecombe. She just has to follow a student on the way to the room as meetings with more than 3 students are not allowed without permission...
Harry sees her on the map and all make a run for it but forget the list with the names. This would still end in the scene in Dumbledore's office, as Umbridge wants Harry away from Hogwarts...

Well damn that sucks. Big time. Understandably they'd need to cut some, but this is just taking out some of the best bits of the book. Plus, if they've cut things like Dolohov, Jugson, Macnair, Avery and the Lestrange brothers, then not only will the DoM battle be lame, but it's also unlikely that they'll have any decent carnage at the end of HBP when the Death Eaters invade the school. Most of these cuts (like a proper blood quill) just take all of the potential darkness out of the film and characters and make it kid-friendly :wall:

Perhaps while dolohov, Jugson, Macnair, Avery, and the Brothers Lestrange have been cut (as in not cast), they still intend to throw in a bunch of bloaks running around in full Death Eater Costume, just not being foolish enough to reveal who they are.

This is really nothing that shouldn't have been expected. The 5th book was over 800 pages, you can't really expect them to do it justice with the limited time period and budget.

I know I wouldn't have minded a 5 hour movie, but just imagine sitting in a theatre listening to a 3 year old ball his eyes out from the lack of doing anything.

I'll still see it. I am not disappointed because I knew this would most likely happen. If I want details I'll just reread the 5th book.
