i started this game the day it released. i have the fortune of working for a fairly low-key company that runs events and games for groups of people so we're all pretty relaxed and stuff. after our shifts we used to wander the cities with walky talkies and HUNT. once the tracker initially broke we spent one night failing, and suddenly our hunting disappeared.

pokevision couldnt help that. its useful for the nests when ppl were camping a small area and needed to know when the pops happened, and a lot of us used it for pokestop camping, but we still didnt get our hunts.

im not pleased pokevision went down, but i'm more displeased they never fixed the tracker. we didn't care to know exactly where 'mons spawned, we just liked having the "game" of hunting and the "winner" being whomever picked the right direction to start with or got it to pop on their screen first.

pokevision can stay or go, but for gods sake i wished they'd reactivate the tracker even to its release state :/

the refunds make me lol tbh. its laughable how quickle public perception has flipped around.

Just about as laughable as how badly Niantic is screwing it all up. :V

Ratings have dropped to about 2 stars for almost all app stores. Google has posted up a notice saying they can't handle more PokeGo issues.

Not gonna lie, seriously tempted to seek refund myself...

Though, in their defence - as laughable a concept that is - i knew this was a terrible game the moment I started playing, and I gave them my money anyway. Idiot me.

I think I've just had a string of bad luck with the incense. I've had much better luck with the lures though.

I'm not really bothered by the lack of Nearby pawprints, seeing as I started playing after the bug was already present.

Furthermore, I've walked 100+ kilometers already and during all that I was able to map out a large part of my city, so I don't even have to rely on the Nearby Radar since I already KNOW where the pokemon spawn.

Finally, I've been playing Ingress for a bit before Pokemon Go, so I already know where the major XM Reserves are which translates to areas with rare Pokemon (see the paragraph above about knowing where they spawn).

Sure, it sucks having to rely on memory regarding spawns. But I'm not complaining. Pokemon Go made me go outside and lose weight. It's not a perfect game, in fact I can barely call it a proper game, but I honestly don't care. If it didn't exist, I'd be sitting at home shitposting on 4chan.

I get people being annoyed by the fracker, but the reaction seems so over the top to the actual event.

Not really. If anything, this is an under-reaction.

There's been zero communication (And yes, this is 100% mandatory for game companies), very few bug fixes (I actually can't even say a bug they've fixed), and nothing being done to improve the game outside very stupidly minor cosmetics (That being able to change character costume thing? I've implemented that in my games inside a week from scratch).

This piled on top of the huge lack of effort they've shown (models + Rigs pulled from the 3DS games, gameplay largely acquired from Ingress), ridiculously bad launch experiences with constant server crashes etc.

It boils down to this: Everything that a game company can do wrong at Launch, Niantic has done it so far.

Rumours abound that they secretly made pokemon 50% more difficult to catch - which seems about right from my experience. Hit a 400 Bulbasaur twice with 'great',razz and ultra ball, it ran.

I suppose they didn't like how quickly people were mowing through what little content the game has.

Someone who bots posted the catch rate thing, yeah. Like went from 55% to 24% or something absurd on a particular pokemon with the exact same cp (like a 60 cp golbat or something).

While Niantic are pulling an impressive Nintendo impersonation, they've little to nothing to do with Go.

I haven't noticed any changes on catch rate, but I do concede that I don't play as often as most people. Mostly it's just a fun casual game I open a few times a week when I have nothing else to do.

Didn't the company say that catching pokemon will become more difficult as your level increases. Maybe, after a certain level, the game will make it more difficult to capture every pokemon, so it is not to easy

^That's how it was, but the catch rate wasn't as low as it is now. A friend just started the game and his catch rate is pretty bad as well. Low CP Pokemon are escaping and blocking far more often than they did when I started. It sort of feels like now that the game's lost a good deal of hype, the devs have decided to slow down progression and make things more grindy rather than actually add new content.

It's still less than a month old. I'll wait a few months before I decide on the long term ability of the game, at the moment it feels like they are tweaking it.

Frankly the fact that a lot of people in big cities were at 120 Pokemon in 2 weeks speaks poorly to how easy the game was for them.

After a month you should have maybe 40, not almost all the catchables.

I like the exploration aspect of the game and like the fact the tracked and third party apps don't work, I feel it ruins the point of the game.

The only thing I hate are the gyms, they are far to unbalanced in favour of attack over defence.

Yeah, I retract every single defensive thing I've said about this game. Just saw a GPS spoofing stream on twitch. I'm out.

People were spending hours every day catching Pokemon. That's why they were so high.

If they wanted to slow pokedex progression, they should have added more things to do in the freaking game.

I'm still waiting for some mechanic that lets you, you know, train your pokemon.

Maybe Nintendo doesn't want to cannibalise their normal Pokemon games, but a mixture of the old-school pokemon game (carry 6 around, find pokemon, beat them up) with some AR (the finding part) would have been sweet.

I agree, but at the same time, when I saw screen shots of people in big cities with a dozen types of Pokemon in sight, rare spawns in multiple places in a small area and nests in a lot of parks. It's clear they made it to simple.
