Pretty much what I thought. It seems launching the popular app of all time with innovative features is hard?

 

Quite, the early joy of seeing that rare pokemon come up (quite a bit more rare in comparatively rural Sweden) is completely destroyed by seeing someone jump between Dragonites/Snorlaxes/Charizards/Laprases etc. I was super excited by seeing a 1.8k Dragonite myself - only to witness some twitch streamer find 'em every 30 seconds.

That said, seeing the advantage of playing this game in NY or Japan is insane when compared to Sweden. I get why people cheat, I just don't feel like putting in an effort when it's done with impunity.

They even have a 'soft ban' when the game detects you jumping coordinates, to get rid of it you spin a pokestop 40 times and then you're fit to jump again :facepalm

 

So niantic nerfed the refresh rate for the scanner again.

When the game first came out, it refreshed every 1 second (that is, the game checked every 1 second to see if there was a pokemon in your visual range, and if there was, it would appear clickable on your screen).

Last update they nerfed it to 5 seconds.

Now they stealth nerfed it again to 10 seconds.

This completely fucks over anyone who's trying to play on a bus or a bike or the passenger seat of a car. I won't add the driver, because, well, yeah.

But seriously. Why?

Why keep on fighting something rather then fixing shit?

After they finally ended their silence yesterday with a facebook post, I opened the app again. I didn't actually GO anywhere, but I did catch pokemon that spawned close enough to catch from my house.

And now I'm back to just not opening it period again : (.

Seriously, Niantic, why are you so bad at this?

Literally the point of the game is to walk around, and people bitch they they can't play it on a bus? Fuckin good. Go get a gameboy and play one of the actual games if you wanna sit around and play.

 

Or a bicycle. Or running. Or any speed faster then a walk, because if something would have spawned at the outer edge of your radius, well, now you have to have hope you pass it by on that 1 second every 10 for it to appear.

Even then walking you can pass them by. And its not like you know which direction to be walking to walk TOWARDS them, because there is no tracker.

 

I think ten seconds is ok but could probably be faster. 1 second seems possible nylessly fast though.

What I see happening is they are trying to make people play the game the way it is intended, walking, exploring, socialising.

If you just want a Pokemon game where you catch all 150 go get pokemon blue.

 

Actually, I took a bus to work today and ended up catching a 900+ Gengar while the bus was moving.

 

So, new update to pokemon go, and I can't play the game without taking the update. Fair enough, I suppose, it's not like I'd expect anything else from Niantic.

So I try to install the new vesion.

My device is not compatible with this version.

I'm running Android 5.0, and I have the memory, so I don't know what's going on. I've tried deleting it, but I still can't install it.

I'm currently trying to download the apk, and going from there.

Anyone got any tips?

Got the apk (from here), and did a new install from that. Everything seems to be working okay.

 

So, anyone planning on getting the watch? What's it called, Pokemon Go Plus or something?

I'm not quite sure if it's been released anywhere yet but I know you can pre-order it in the UK. Unfortunately, it turns out that it doesn't actually tell the time but only catches Pokemon.

I already look like enough of a douche with a wrist computer that barely works. I'm not goign to have a non time telling Pokemon Watch in ADDITION to that,

It was supposed to come out at the end of July. It was delayed until September.

 

I'll consider it. Given the current state of the game, I'm not pre-ordering it though.

If the game is actually properly working though, and the reviews for it are okay, and it doesn't destroy my phone's battery, I probably will.

Does anyone know what it's supposed to do?

AFAIK, a single press will auto spin a pokestop (and it vibrates when you're near one), and it's also supposed to catch pokemon, although I don't know if it does it on a single press or not (and if it is a single press, doesn't that give a massive advantage?)

 

Supposed to only catch Pokemon you've already got in the Pokedex. Works as Bluetooth or whatever? Not sure, never really used that sort of thing.

 

Well now we know why they've been messing with the throw rates.

 

If it vibrates when a Pokemon is near it will be good for people like me in the outskirts but pointless in a city where there are always Pokemon.

 

Pokemon can break out of the ball but yeah it does remove the actual skill of 'throwing' the ball.
