Have they tweaked the capture rate again? When they tweaked it last time I was throwing a dozen balls at some pidgeys, now I rarely have to throw three. If they had it was needed, I was almost always low on balls and it was pissing me off to see 10CP pidgeys run away.

 

I also noticed an improvement with my capture rate, but I think the next update will include the Buddy system. You walk to earn candies for a certain pokemon. That sound super useful as long as it is not one candy.

 

I don't even care if it's just one candy, as opposed to "batches" like it might be. I have yet to see a Dratini. Eventually I will, but I'll never be able to evolve it.

If I have to run 150 km to get a Dragonite, I will.

 

You also want to get a dratini with over 90% iv and a good CP. Dragonite is hard to get so you do not want to waste it with something lack luster. I have about 200 dratini candies but i dont have a good dratini to evolve. My perfect IV dratini is CP 43 and I am level 23. It will take over 100 candies to power him up and i will most likely run out of stardust. It would be a waste to evolve a low cp pokemon and have to power him up right after .

Ok so i dont know if im just an idiot or just didnt battle enough to notice this.

When i used to try and raise the level of a friendly gym i would use one of my strongest pokemon and defeat maybe 2-3 of the ones in the gym giving like 150-300xp, which made getting the at least 2000xp really hard to do.

But thats becuase i was beating 1200cp pokemon with 2000cp. Netting me like 150 per win.

But if you beat a pokemon with a lower cp you can get up to 700 gym experience if you are a few hundred lower, meaning you lvl up a gym in 3 battles.

Also gives a reason to use all those mid lvl pokemon.

Just pick a pokemon of the right type to beat the weakest in the gym, get one maybe 200 or 300cp lower and you can lvl gyms easy.

The 4 gyms closest to me are all team red lvl 10, so no one even tries to fight them since they are so strong.

Probably hard to do in a centre city but in the suburbs you can hold gyms for weeks if you plan the pokemon in there right.

 

If you beat a defending pokemon (In training) with one that's half their CP (Or lower) you get I think 100 bonus xp, and supposedly 1000 prestige for the gym.

There's a whole strategy around using a 20~ish CP Poliwag/Horsea/Krabby with Bubble as defender, and a 10 CP attacker to grind a gym to level 10 in under an hour apparently.

And yeah, Prestige comes in bonuses from beating pokemon who have a CP higher than yours.

 

Lovin the new buddy system, its slow acting which i like but it enables you to evolve pokemon that dont often spawn in your area, just got enough to evolve my Picachu.


I hope next up is friendly battles.

Also i would love at some point for you to be able to specialise, like you are a fire pokemon trainer and alll those type get a bonus. Encourage your use of other pokemon, not just the 5 that seem to be in every gym.

 

THe buddy system for the 2k egg pokemon seems fair but to receive only 1 candy for walking 3k or 5k seems a waste. Walking 43k to evolve a charmander seem excessive and a waste of time. Or walking 10k to get 2 candies to power up a lapras doesn't seem worth it.

I think there needs to be a buff to 10k eggs drop rate and a rotation of pokemon, to keep the game fresh

 

I'm having a crazy amount of luck with 10K eggs.
I got seven 10km eggs in a single weekend.
Drops included a Lapras, Chansey and Onix. Some still to hatch.

For the buddy system I have an amazing Jigglypuff soon to evolve.

 

Yeah to fully evolve a Dragonite from a Dratini you have to walk like 600km.

I want it to be hard but thats excessive. I walked 30km to get 30 Picachu candy to evolve and that was ok, maybe the levels should be 1km, 2km and 3km, more reasonable.

If you hatch a 10km egg you get a pokemon and like 25 candy. Thats the equivilant of like 150km of walking.

 

I thought the number of candies you get were random from hatching. When I first hatched a Pikachu from a 2k, i got 12 candies. The second Pika game me 4. I first though the buddy system will be something like that, get a random about of candies, like between 1-5 per fixed distance. I may have perfered it that way. Basically everything else in the game has to do with RNG so why not that

 

So here is my progress. Only had 2 new Pokemon this month. Picachu and Hitmonlee. Latter from egg former from Buddy. Almost at 600 walked.

 

New pokemon on a 10k egg gives out 32 candies, from personal experience.
And I'll never have a decent dragonite, dratinis never spawn for me and the two dragonites I caught were under 600CP.
