From the baron steal to that smeb play, favorite match of the worlds for me so far. Just so thoroughly entertaining.
Caught a bit of the first match too, mainly the ending, which was fun too. Always like an underdog win, but what happened there?

CLG behaved like CLG. They had their chances, they had their throws, and they threw harder than they capitalized on their chances.

Honestly they should've won. They had a nice early game lead, then threw it. They broke open the mid inhib, and then allowed a baron sneak.

That Lee sin ult to catch Varus. I just... I don't know. Wow, such a good game. I was shaking my head thinking 'c9 deserves to lose this game...' but damn if they didn't earn the win too.

This group stage is interesting, but I dont think we've seen a really good game yet. Exciting or fun sure, but its been a lot of mistakes etc, we havent seen two strong sides playing well and overcoming the other through skill yet.

SKT and ROX are looking ahead of the pack, but the teams in group D all look pretty good.

I'm happy to see that this worlds week 1 has lived up to the absurdness of last years week 1. Next week I assume everything will be sane and Rox/Skt will be the favorites.

Also, fuck all the Lee Sin's invading solo queue rip.

EU coming apart at the seams, CLG beating ROX, and SKT losing to FW? What the actual fuck is this Worlds.

Huh TSM has a really good chance of winning worlds this year and for once it's just not me exaggerating how good they are in my head.

    Also EU is garbage

CLG best the tigers on the back of fucking Huhi getting possessed by the spirit of season 3 Faker and just dropping his dick on them.

    Dankest timeline ever.

Forget the Lee Sins in solo queue, I'm just waiting for the support Brands and general mage-carry-supports to swamp my queue. As an adc main the thought terrifies me.
But, honestly, this week gives me hope that the worlds isn't going to be a cut and dried affair. The very real possibility of another Rox vs SKT final was not appealing.

Much as I agree with you, understand that this is still the highest probability outcome. Teams are still finding their feet and getting comfortable to the worlds stage and international competition, while other teams have shown up more than expected.

In the end, even with the amount of crazy shit we saw at first week, anything beyond an SKT vs ROX finals is unlikely, barring a complete meltdown of either team.

And yes, I say that after ROX lost to CLG. None would be happier than me if I were made to eat my words, by the time this whole tournament is done.

I wouldn't say anything other than a SKT/ROX final is unlikely. There's a decent chance they meet in the semis instead :p

I love how crazy the first week was. A lot of new picks (for pro play), upsets, and none of the teams look completely overwhelming or flawless. Any of the good teams look like they have a shot. ANL was a huge surprise, and EU is deservedly trash.

Gotta remember that at least Bjergsen and Smeb were sick though, so those teams aren't playing at their best.

Honestly, people are underestimating RNG. If that team ever decides to become fully synergized and try hard and all that, they can easily rival any of the Koreans. And there's always a chance that TSM makes it to the finals. But yeah, I don't think it'll be SKT v. ROX in the finals.

My mind is blown at that upset on Flash Wolves vs SKT.

---------- Post automerged at 08:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:18 PM ----------

Thinking about it again, though, I think jungler pressure had a big part of it. I didn't like the Olaf pick by SKT; Lee Sin just put down so much more pressure. Karsa was really getting the picks in, while Olaf was a much slower champion in the early game.

FW basically wailed on Faker who had no backup from his jungler. He still had a very solid game, that maneuvering on Cass to avoid Sol's orbs was pretty slick, but when you're getting camped, you're getting camped.
Which is surprising, honestly, because the Olafs we saw before all had pretty good jungle pressure.
