My game is terrible. I know that. This is my third game of mafia in a forum setting. I'm not surprised people don't know what to make of this version of me considering the last two games I played I was useless!town.

Hmm. I see your point, but I think slippery is tied to vira in an underrated way, and slippery/newcomb/owner is a world that I'm starting to wonder about and one that works much better than miner/newcomb/owner.

In other words, I can see where you're coming from, but I think slippery's slightly lesser ties to vira (as compared to miner's) are sufficiently overcome by slippery's moderately greater independent scumminess.

Thoughts?

The thing is that like yes, your game could use a bit of work, but you're new, that's okay.

What isn't okay is the way you just kinda rolled over and took this.

Like, I'd be trying to flip this thread off a cliff to make sure we lynched Slippery over you if you were out there making (attempts at, even if poorly) cases and showing the bits of towny spirit I think I saw peeking through earlier in the game, but as it is you're kinda giving me flashbacks to the last time I took a stance like this and was super wrong by lurking to your doom.

As it is at best it feels like you don't really care, which makes you either an apathetic townplayer that's probably going to have to die at some point, or scum that rolled over.

I still think Slippery is scum and you're town, and I'm still going to try to convince everyone else of this, but you need to show us you're town if you are.

There's two main reasons for why I haven't done so.

1) I'm not sure what constitutes as "scummy" behaviour and what constitutes as "towny" behaviour. My reads are almost always gut based, and (if they're not omgus) usually involve something that a more experienced player has said before.

2) I'm stuck in a pit of schoolwork right now and so I can only devote a couple hours to the thread. I've tried my best to stay active, and I've read the entire thread, but I can't stay on for very long. I hope I'm doing at least enough that I don't need to be replaced out (I think/hope, although I could be wrong here).

I'm basically echoing others before me. It doesn't make sense for Slippery to nurse Newcomb if he wasn't his top townread. Like... if I were the nurse I'd nurse Newcomb because he is and has been my top townread since his Apprentice claim. There are worlds where Newcomb is scum and I accept that, but I still think he's town. But Slippery doesn't seem to read Newcomb as his top town, which is why his nurse is scummy. Especially considering I'm pretty sure angel(s) would be protecting Newcomb (I know I would). Like a lot of this is fmpov, but you get the idea. I like Newcomb. Slippery doesn't as much. Why is he nursing Newcomb?

 

Sorta? Like before we got the Slippery nursing of Newcomb, no, not really. I thought about the world because I'm afraid of Newcomb despite what he says about his scum game, but his claim fit too well with my D1 worldview to be false.

But I mean, brainstorm with me (anyone). Literally what reason do we have for Slippery to nurse someone he doesn't have a townread on? Maybe everything is on track, slippery panicked because ?reasons? and nursed Newcomb of his own volition because he thought we'd direct him to and he wanted to cash in on the credit. That's a thing that could happen, but it doesn't seem very reasonable.

The counterargument is a scumcomb, scum!slippery, town!vira gambit theory, which is... a little out there, but like a possible world too I guess?

 

Compare Slip voting for miner with miner voting for slip.

I'd say to also compare their readwalls, but we're kind of lacking those at the moment.

With no qualifiers about being unsure of yourself, tell me why tom and Jan are low. Did you draw them out of a hat, or steal them from someone else's readwall, or plug everyone defending you in a spreadsheet and average their reads in the ultimate sheep, or? No wrong answers.

Then, say why. If you took it from someone else, what bit of their reasoning resonated with you? Show us how you're thinking and live to fight another day, man.

Jan and tom talk about mind-melding so much that I dunno, I took it to be weird. One of them (in my book) has to be scum. Which is why I was voting Jan earlier today.

Like, there's that whole section between me and Jan. Read it.

1. softs nurse to only me because i am one of his hardest townreads
2. then fakes a struggle about what to do
3. asks me for advice
4. and bets everything on a decision made by me that he can't know before, because i was not sure at the time.

that is a fucking elaborate move as scum .. but a thing that would come natural to him as town.

I can not in good conscience vote for slippery here. It just makes no sense to me.

We might both be stupid towns risking the game on scum!newcomb .. but i dont see this as a scum move by him.

 

mal + Snowvon I'm deferring to other players. Almost everyone here seems to know Von very well, and they all think he's town. That's good enough in my book.

I've not paid much attention to Koalas at all. Like, I could almost forget he was in the game with the amount of interaction I've had with him. So null as fuck on that read.

owner I don't understand. There's the random roleplaying (which I don't know if that's just her playstyle or if that's a scumtell or a towntell or whatever) and the pushing and asking questions... which could indicate very involved town or very aggressive scum. It's fallen to the wayside a bit d2 which is ?????

Plus, people's opinions of her are split, so I'm just leaving her as yellow.
