Not sure I'd be much use to competitive teams anyway. I don't want to AFK as a rule, League kinda made me hate that, even in normals. I deliberately would also make sure I had coverage for games, but in case of emergency, leaving is mandatory.

 

overwatch quickplay should be good for that. Nothing tragic if someone leaves in the middle of the match.

 

Quick play seems to be good for what you have in mind, just remember that you can occasionally get some really bad team comps and shitty teammates. I'd highly recommend the game anyways though, especially if you can grab a friend or two to play with you every now and then.

Ok, so that's fun but I clearly have no idea what I'm doing. I'm not used to first person, but that'll take some time. In League there are very simple champs to play that help by being overly simple but good for learning the game. Annie is one of those. If you had a new player willing to learn, who would you recommend I start with and why?

 

Tbh most of the champs are pretty easy to play. But if you want simple ones to start off with, to get a handle on the game, I'd suggest Junkrat, Soldier 76, Reinhardt and Lucio. Just pick the one which has your preferred role.

Once you know what you're doing explore and find the one which suits you best- do try them all.

Just played my most ludicrously easy game of Torbjorn ever, defense on Route 66 with 37 kills and no deaths. I want to make it clear, Im not that good. They just sucked that fucking much xD. My kill count just kept ticking higher literally every time I blinked and if one of the little dipshits figured out to focus fire on my turret I just tapped Molten Core and casually erased all of them. I dont think Ive ever played an easier game on any character even against AI. Between me and the Bastion sitting next to my turret it started feeling like assisted suicide instead of a match.
