With a closed setup that doesn't offer role names or abilities until flip, yes, I believe option 1 is the most likely to be true. This isn't like that atrocious Lexicat(IIRC) game from a few years ago where any character of any series could be chosen as any alignment, this is a game by Fonti with Snowvon and I believe they take balance cues from Eido, who IMO is known to be fair and quite thorough in checking that everything jives. I know I've either played a game or read a game in the past where the scum team were given safe claims to make.

I'd further say that the Snow quote is there to reduce the odds of counterclaiming getting in the way of analysis and a smoother game for everyone involved. When you have multiple players saying "I'm X" "No I'm X" "Well I'm Y""No I'm Y" "I'm Z" "Hah I'm Z" you may be able to narrow the scum team down in the first day to between X1/X2, Y/1/Y2, and Z/1/Z2 and so on and everyone else is town-cleared by the lack of counterclaims on them. Lynching between those six players immediately screws over the scumteam who have to successfully NK every night and even then they probably lose by D3.

While I was typing that out though that has got me thinking. There usually has been a souping mechanic to keep the above situation from taking place although I can't recall a game this small having one, but for the sake of argument let us assume the scum can soup. This leaves Proph in one of two worlds. A. He's actually HP VT that should have died but was protected lastNight. B. He's actually a Draco Malfoy Mafia Goon feinting as HP VT. There is also a C. He's DM MG and the real HP has not yet counterclaimed(perhaps they do have a PR), but I find that unlikely.

With Delphine's flip I was believing A to be the case. Now I'm less certain.

I will note that Palindrome's play style while scummy did have me wondering early into D1 if they were just a VT before the replace.

Now that raises an interesting question but for now let's say I agree with you here.

 

There won't be a soup mechanic in a closed setup game. It's only used in open setups to prevent massclaiming. If people tried to massclaim in this game basically everyone's claims would be unprovable.

 

My first game was almost five years ago. I took some time off after my first couple of horrible games and returned for Zeit's survivor, but I consider Lexicat's CYS to be where I began to actually learn how to play mafia and make reads. After that I was scum in Bat2, town in Sloth's Endgames, town in Narutomafia, town in a witchhunt on Fantasy Strike(IIRC), town in Mimefia, and now town here.

That isn't what I meant and you know it. I meant there's no difference fmpov in voting Maj or Jarizok. I'm fine with both of them, but I'd really like to lynch at least one today, so I'm going to put my vote on the majority wagon. Plus, despite at least two or three people saying that Jarizok has been scummy, no one has put forth much of an effort to read him.

Also, this is my fourth game in a forum setting, after Concussion Mafia, Mimefia, and WH7.

Oh, last spicy question for Majube before I dive into my reread. Is there anything in Palindrome's posts that makes you think that slot was scum. Have you reread them since Proph replaced in, with your new context from the end of Day 1?

 

I don't get the question, are you asking who we think are scum voting proph? Mhm, I said earlier that I think Scum team is Prophy(maybe), Bill, Kai(maybe), I'll have to reread but Kai seems way less dodgy. I have to reorder my scum as well because my earlier posts an their tells, well just in general need to reread. Well first of all, I find it hilarious everyone who was scumread earlier in the game is voting for me but seriously I'm curious about why Jarizok is not a wagon since almost all scum tells of mine are similar to his since

I think at least 1 of the wagon is fully scum if not proph but Bill seems really scummy but yeah this game is pretty much led by scum if none of the wagons are scum, could be since like people were saying earlier what with the game going into a lull every once in a while because the scum think their in a good position an feel no need to argue.

Drome didn't do much of anything except argue against spamming the thread (as a forum mod should) and ask about changes to Little Italy as a whole that were implemented later.

Honestly, this is why I like Maj or Jarizok's lynch much more than Proph, because while Proph's "catching up" posts d1, as well as the flash wagon at dayend may look sketchy as fuck, Majube's posts just ping me way too much. I really don't like the timing of his posts, it feels like he's only posting when people are pushing him. There's also the fact that he keeps pointing to other players and asking town how he's playing any different from them. Like, I'm pretty sure that's a scumtell.

There's just overall a lot of posts that make me go ???
