Trying to remember a story.

There is a younger student named Alex whose parents are killed in an attack. Harry and his little group sort of adopt him and treat him as a little brother until he is injured and can no longer speak.

In an attempt to speak again, he under goes a risky magical surgery which ends up killing him.

It wasn't the main plot of the story, in fact I want to say it was one of those, "Harry goes dark/grey/does things his own way and starts to gather like minded people who want to shape the new world in their image" sort of fic. But I could be wrong about that.

 

I'm looking for a fic where Harry wasn't the BWL and Voldemort never made horcruxes because the Hallows were his main focus. I remember that he was a ravenclaw, Neville's parents weren't insane and part of the order of the pheonix still and the part I remember the most is that there was a big timeskip from year one to year four I think and Neville was hosting a party at his house and Harry caught the Longbottoms updating the wards in secret and he was worried about voldemort attacking.

Dumbledore also cuts off voldemort's arm at one point if that helps.

Looking for a marriage law fic I read years ago.

I remember Harry and his friends carried heavy wounds from the battle with Voldemort (someone was walking with a cane or something - generally they were pretty battle weary), the ministry instigated the marriage law; then Harry and co hired an ex-intelligence operative who started massacring those responsible. The story was in third-person from the point of view of the operative.

I'm looking for a travel fic I read before but cannot find now. I remember harry left during the summer travelling to different places around the world and did not end up returning to hogwarts for his next school year. He may have stopped back to visit. I remember he visited Australia in the story and had a girlfriend I think. He also wrote travel reviews for the quibbler. I thought it was make a wish, but found out it was not the correct one. Any help would be appreciated.

That sounds ludicrously similar to Harry Potter and the Wastelands of Time where exactly that happens, sans the travel reviews bit.

But he definitely traveled and had an australian girlfriend.

 

I once read a fanfic where Hermione wasn't gettin good grades and she was hiding that from Ron and Harry. Harry found out about it, and realised Hermione wasn't as smart as she made herself seem. That's the only thing I remember about the fic.

It probably wasn't that good, and went too far to bash Hermione, but I want to read again. Does anybody know the fic I'm talking about?

Trying to remember a HP/DF crossover that had Harry Potter as the original and immortal Winter Knight. Only scene I remember is Dresden is given the task of finding who killed the Summer Knight, and as part of that he meets Potter who denies having anything to do with it.

Tried my favorites list, google, and been searching through the WBA here but no luck so far.
