I gave up after 2 hours. If you go down to the water though, there's a patch with a 10% chance of Bagon. It might require surf though.

HMs in all but name!

 

So I was minding my own business, procrastinating on fighting the Grass Trial because 3/4 of my Pokemon are weak to grass, when I spotted this white thing near the water. It looked like a mouse and as I approached, it ran back into its den. Only when I went in and out of the Pokemon Center did it come back out. Interested and realizing why this water pathway was a circle, I circled around and blocked its retreat.

I did battle with this Pokemon called Wimpod and decided to catch it. I sent out my fragile ass rock puppy and she tackled once, did some nice damage, then tackled once more. A crit, but the Wimpod was sent comfortably into yellow.

That did it. I went back in and out of the Pokemon Center, stomping back to the path only to realize the bug had not returned.

It was gone.

And that’s the story of why I quit my game without saving.

I already have a water-type and this Pokemon is one of the worst I've seen in terms of battling prowess, but that evolution... I want it so bad.

I can’t say enough at how much I like having the Pokedex entries shown to you when you catch a Pokemon. Today as I was training Pokemon, I caught a Stufful. They’re cute and their cry is sweet, but the Pokedex then told me:

And I honestly felt nervous when I played with my Stufful in Pokemon Refresh. If the Pokedex hadn’t told me that, I doubt I’d have felt anything.

So, yeah, definitely my favorite change between gens.

Oh my god, Stufful's evolution is called Bewear. I want twenty. <3

Nice! I MM bred a shiny Rowlet last night. It's Adamant with Defog and Baton Pass. I've only just now completed the water trial.

I'm just about to fight the second Kahuna. Current team:

Syren the Brionne. M, L27. Aqua Jet / Bubblebeam / Baby-Doll Eyes / Disarming Voice.
Tye the Pikachu. M, L25. Charge Beam / Nasty Plot / Thunder Wave / Echoed Voice.
Layla the Cubone. F, L25. Boomerang / Headbutt / Rock Tomb / Brick Break.
Rosy the Stufful. F, L25. Leer / Brick Break / Baby-Doll Eyes / Payback.

 

I have the worst luck with this game, I swear to god. Spent at least half an hour looking for a Feebas, found none. Decided to go looking for a Stufful, again none. Totem Lurantis straight-up wrecked me twice, too, because it kept spamming Synthesis and Solar Blade, helped by a Castform that spammed Weather Ball like it was going out of style.

Second Kahuna too, now. Team is Dartrix 28, Crabrawler 27, Magnemite 26, Charjabug 26, Haunter 27, Salandit 23.

 

Yeah, fuck that Lurantis. I had no fire or flying attacks and that thing was bulky as a motherfucker. It beat me three times. I've never been so humiliated.

 

Managed to beat the game using Bewear, Ribombe, Day form Lichenrock, Mimikyu, and Lurantis. Had tons of fun, only battle I had any trouble with was Hapu. If you don't have a hard counter to her Mudsdale that thing is an absolute monster.

Now to figure out where to get apricorn balls so I can start breeding for a shiny Cutiefly in a love ball.

 

Finding a Mareanie is a pain in my ass - it only shows up as an SOS pokemon, rarely, from a Corsola encounter, also rare, in special fishing spots.

On the bright side, I'm up to 8 pearls, 6 big pearls and 2 pearl strings.

 

My Stufful evolved today. This greeted me:

My Bewear then immediately wanted to learn Bind.

I said no.

 

Just finished the story. This was an incredibly enjoyable game and story. Unlike ... pretty much every other game since Gold, I actually liked the side characters.

Kanto sequel in the vein of B2/W2 please. We might be getting Gen4 remakes (enough hints in regarding dimensions) but I want to follow Lillie's story...

Also, catching Solgaleo just to stick him in a box felt weird. We shouldn't be able to catch story characters.

Favorite moment in the game definitely the Fire trial - laughed hysterically through the entire sequence.

Favorite new addition was the Pokemon snap mode, but I wish they actually had interaction features (food/pester balls?).

 

Marenie, finally, get. Thank god. Gonna Toxapex all over the remaining Kahunas.

 

So my game finally arrived today late. I'm quite annoyed at this as I've been desperate to play. Just when I insert the cartridge you'll never guess what I realised, guys.

I have a Canadian 2DS sitting in a drawer upstairs and could have downloaded the game onto that forever ago. D:

 

Finally got my game too. Goddamn EU game release times. Seriously angsting over which starter to choose.

Edit: for the QR scanning feature, only the island scan lets you capture pokemon? And the Sun and Moon starters aren't on the list? Damn, I was getting hopeful for a sec here...
