For all those fics that portray Amelia Bones as being so patient and kind and caring she shouts over Harry like Fudge does.

JKR later confirmed they can't. Seems kind of a shitty defense, tbh. If someone had confirmed Squibs couldn't see Dementors, then Harry's whole case would've gone up in smoke.

This is when reacting to the idea that someone might have sent Dementors after Harry. Foreshadowing!

    Goddamnit, Hermione.

Harry's honestly taking this not-a-Prefect thing incredibly well, even if it still stings a little.

First off, Harry's been having something of an image problem. It'd have undermined his authority something fierce if people just thought he'd gotten the position because of Dumbledore's favoritism. Second, Harry won't exactly have loads of time, either, what with the Occlumency, as well as Quidditch training. As well as the prophecy still hanging over his head.

Must've been quite a witch, then.

Paints quite a picture of the DE's numbers.

Hmm. Wonder what this means for wizard interstellar travel.

Fucking hell this Sorting Hat song is long. 3 and a half pages, Christ.

    Good lad, Dean.

And indeed it seems she doesn't! Ron the Seer makes his triumphant return.

note: they don't actually want to be free

This quote seems to mention Figg and Fudge not Amelia Bones.

That's because they're two separate thoughts, as indicated by the linebreak in between them.

Yes and they have nothing to do with Amelia Bones. which is what your sentence seemed to imply just before the quote.

...He's making a general point about Amelia Bones. Then he moves onto another point, but that's less general, so he provides a specific quote.

So Moody never went into the Hog's Head?
This implies that Assyria is still a geopolitical entity in the magical world, even though IRL it collapsed thousands of years earlier.

Chapter 8: The Woes of Mrs Weasley

This does beg the question of what the point of Dumbledore ignoring Harry for the majority of the year is. I suppose there's a difference between favourite student and 'actually fond of him on a personal level', but still.

Chapter 11: The Sorting Hat's New Song

I kinda feel Harry only has himself to blame for the conflict with Seamus. If he'd been a bit more willing to talk, he might have been able to convince him. Understandable, but still frustrating to read.

    Chapter 12: Professor Umbridge

Rereading, Harry's inability to correctly brew the Draught of Peace is a bit of an on-the-nose metaphor for the book as a whole.

So it's public knowledge - at least amongst Hogwarts students - that the Moody that taught them was an imposter and a criminal, which is fair enough, it's not an easy thing to conceal. So...isn't that a pretty big hole in the Ministry/Prophet's stance that Harry's crazy? Even if the general public doesn't believe that Voldemort is back, it seems obvious that there was a threat of some sort.

    Chapter 13: Detention with Delores

Ok, so yes, Umbridge is a bitch. And yes, she's interfering at Hogwarts. And yes, Harry was right and she's wrong. And yes, the punishment she gives him is basically torture. BUT. Her final point, about not changing the detention time to suit his extra-curricular activity is a fair one, tbh.

Well, at the end of Goblet, Fudge says after Crouch was Kissed that it was no loss, that he did what he did because he was a raving lunatic, not because Voldemort was giving him instructions. So the fact that everyone would know that Moody turned out to be a quack might not be so strange. It seems that Fudge didn't try to conceal that part, only to discredit the claim that Voldemort was behind it all.

Sure, but if you know that there was a nutjob imposter at the school, surely the Ministry's stance that Cedric's death was a "tragic accident" becomes harder to swallow? Unless you argue that murder is a 'tragic accident'.
