Is there anything you guys as players would want to see different/more of in future games?

My flavor is pretty low effort, but if people want actual flavor I can attempt to put time into that I suppose.

I was fairly busy this game and vote counts probably weren't as frequent as I'd have liked, but I tried to ask someone from obs to do them if I was going to be away from thread for too long.

Just looking for feedback to improve quality of life and game enjoyment from players in future as a mod.

I think that just stems from lack of meta with Jan.

I gave up as scum like once here, and floundered pretty hard on MU in a mash. But normally I very much enjoy playing scum. I like playing town a lot less actually. I wouldn't say I'm a one-alignment player at all.

I've steamrolled towns on my home forum and steamrolled scumteams as town there as well. I'm pretty diverse if you look at games like MM7 or whichever one where I was scum with Vaimes and didn't show up til Day 3 and then made it to F3, and then if you look at games like tinyhunt 5 where we wound up losing but I projected town pretty strongly all game.

But I do agree with the general idea that he proposes in that quote, Quid.

I suspect you were just used as a throw-away example there, Cobalt.

That sentiment is pretty true for a decent chunk of players here - myself, Vaimes, Newcomb, Typhon, and probably others are fairly notorious for much preferring to play town.

Yeah... I'm almost cripplingly bad as scum, and tend to not care for it.

That said, I do try, and I haven't ever really considered my shittiness as scum being a negative for anyone besides my team, but Q's point is compelling.

I'll put it on the list (tm)

Delphine how would you describe me to Jarizok? (Re: game as other players.)

---------- Post automerged at 11:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:56 PM ----------

I mean, I'm 5 times the scum player as I am the town (which is still not that good), so I'm talking out of my ass a tad.

I think I'd vaguely be interested in an anonymous game, as much as I hated the last one I played in.

I think what would be fun here are a few open setups maybe. At least for players like me who are used to having some kind of idea as to what the gamestate is like, playing games like witch hunt and tinyhunt and then all the normal games you're still left guessing as to the setup, I feel as though it detracts from my gameplay to not know what even exists.

I think setups like that are a bit more scumsided, but they're doable with a cohesive town, which we just didn't have this game.

    Err.

It was Jan's point ("play both alignments, dammit") that Q quoted.

I like your style of modding, flavor, and game creation. Keep up the good work.

Still giving myself credit for seeing the absolute GARBAGE line of reasoning on calling Typhon scum for most of D1 and half of D2.

If we're voting in Open vs. Closed: I don't plan on ever playing another Open setup again, or at least not a role-packed one.

An anonymous game would be interesting in a sense, but I suspect it wouldn't work in the community - our styles are pretty apparent unless we make an effort to mask them, and that's just going to make things weird (I think).

Could perhaps try to work in the occasional semi-open setup, but there's a chunk of people that enjoy the closed setups, as well as those that enjoy the open, so I try to rotate through and do a variety between TinyHunt, WitchHunt, small closed setups and larger closed setups.

Maybe I'll add a flexible semi-open setup to the rotation if the interest is there.

Also, on the open/closed thing - I prefer open setups as of now, but think I need to play more closed ones so as to fumble around in them last. My setup thoughts were terrifically wrong.

I alluded to it in the Observer Chat, but I do have a game somewhat like this in the works, but it takes a significant amount of effort to set up because I need to work with the admins to make the fake accounts for the game and have them restricted.

A game that includes elements of pretending to be other players + using blind accounts WILL happen at some point, though!

Did anyone get the full team unspoiled? There were some good calls in obs, but I couldn't find a single with everyone.

Ecophagy was only person to call the exact team (in the post I quoted above), but Prophylaxis was very on point as well.

He was my emergency replacement this game hence not seeing him in Observer Chat.

Had fun skimming through this game. Eido constantly updating me if he needed a replacement was also a plus (though nowadays I'm pretty strict about the "one game at a time" philosophy, the worst thing ever is overextending yourself in a bunch of games and doing poorly in all of them).

Please, I just looked at vote counts and pulled names out a hat. Pretty sure my reads would have been pretty different had I actually replaced into the game.

    Heh.

Pretty on-point, though. I just kinda wrote Fluff off as town for basically that reason.

GG wolves. I thought dLGN played particularly well; at least for me, a lot of his D1 read pretty tonally town.

I was following along pretty closely in Obs, though not so much in the last week or so. My reads were pretty shit, though they did get a little better.

I think one thing we touched on in Obs and also someone brought up in the game - I think it was Vaimes - but which definitely bears repeating now, is that activity isn't always +EV town. After a certain point in D1, the thread kind of collapsed under its own weight, and that was actively harmful because it just sucked the energy out of subsequent Days.

Especially in games with longer deadlines (72+ hours), you gotta remember that it's a marathon, not a sprint.

I only really have a one game sample size with you, but. I think of Jarizok as fluffy, instinctive, and when he's genuinely scumhunting, tends to focus on a few important reads and build around those. I would be interested in seeing him try to portray someone who took a relatively, uh, explain-y/not fluffy/broad-minded approach here.
