Well if you are anyone has read the latest chapter, i guess you were right. Oda really got this plot twist done well by not revealing her true character at the first opportunity that most other works would have done. Sanji has really been dragged through the emotional wringer and that last panel is one of the clearest examples of despair and utter hopelessness i've seen all year.

Overall, I would say that this arc seems to be progressing well.

You know Oda was not kidding when he said that 2016 would have been Sanji's year

    I'd also guessed about Pudding...
I don't know what gave it away to everyone else, but she was too perfect. She pushed all the right buttons for Sanji without a single misstep. I guessed she was acting and that her goal would be negative for the Straw Hats, but didn't get into more detail in my assumptions than that.

I don't see the issue. Let Big Mama kill Asshole family, have Sanji save Luffy and Nami in the confusion, sail away singing a happy tune.

He seems relatively fond of his sister though, and there's the matter of Brook, Chopper and co. being stuck in the thick of it too. Not to mention the small question of how the rescue of Nami and Luffy is going to happen + the bombs on his wrists.
Should be a fun arc ngl- it'll be a nice change to see the SH beaten and fleeing rather than coming out on top for once.

Fishman to the rescue wrt Luffy and Nami's situation. Brook calling out Big Ma as a scrub. Bropper and his darling sidekick torturing Mirror-Witch for their answers. And Three Eyes pulling a comedy tour before demonstrating a new devil fruit while sad Sanji goes from smitten to smite'd by her unintentional confession bear sessions with Reiju.

    In all, good chapter.

I like the symmetry. Luffy helps break Jinbei out of Impel Down. Jinbei breaking Luffy out of Big Mom's prison.

I'm just hoping that by the time this arc ends, Sanji will stop objectifying women and putting them on a pedestal.

I mean sure, character traits and all that, but character growth is a concept that rarely gets visited in shounen, and I'd hate for all this fanfare to have been for essentially nothing.

I was under the impression that he doesn't hit women because (1) his mother was treated like shit and (2) Zeff, who he thinks of as his real father, told him to never hit a woman.

They might come off as stupid traits, they're informed by his past. Besides, I think most of his objectification is an act. It does get a bit much sometimes, but then all of the Straw Hats go overboard sometimes with their own brands of silliness. Sanji's is just more obvious than most.

Rather than more obvious, I feel like he's also a bit more inflexible about the matter than others. Nami likes money, but she's ready to put it aside for her friends. Zoro has his honor and dreams but he's willing to bow to Mihawk for Luffy's sake. On the other hands Sanji will not hit a woman even if doing so will endanger not only his life, but also the lives of his crewmates (CP9 arc, Kalifa).

I never necessarily said he should start hitting women. I get that, even if I disagree with it. But having Pudding do this to him should surely make him a little more suspicious than his default "hot women are saints until proven otherwise" .

My point is that he's never actually thought that. He might have an innocent until proven guilty vibe about him, but I think that in part it's an act.

Rather than "Hot women are saints until proven otherwise", his mindset is more like "That hot woman could be the devil. It doesn't matter to me."

Still, if he's ever gonna hit a woman, it's gonna be Pudding. Maybe he'll slap her instead of kick her, just to further highlight how big of a deal it is for him. I doubt it, but I guess we'll see soon.

I keep trying to think back, but I can't really see what could possibly make you think that. Clarify?

What makes you think he finds all pretty women to be saints? Just because he treats them all as if they are? I don't get /that/. To be it's always felt obvious that he was indulging his desires to treat them that way but that he wasn't actually naive enough to buy it, not deep down.

Might be an agree-to-disagree thing. At this point it doesn't really matter I suppose.

Honestly, Reiju is mostly right. As I said earlier, just let big mom kill them all. It shouldn't be too hard to save Reiju as well, if the crew gets back together.

Gotta admit, that last panel ... Damn that was good.

Next chapter feels like it'll be quite awesome. And the next few after that, actually, as the team comes back together.

Good stuff. I like how these last few chapters have had the crew spread out and each group really having a goal. Sometimes when they get split up it's just to fight or escape, but here it felt more like they each had a plot thread connected to the whole... and it's fun to see the crew acting independently but at the same time still acting as one crew.

And I like how Sanji knew Luffy would be there, even if he didn't find him right away. He didn't spend time wondering if he had decided not to come or some such bullshit, just looked.

Huh. With this chapter's revelation it feels like there's an actual chance that Big Mom will, if not go down entirely, at least be crippled. Interesting stuff.

It seems that the worst generation is going after all the Yonko except ... Blackbeard. Shit.

I'm kinda wondering what's happening on the Blackbeard vs Revolution and the Kid alliance vs Shanks fronts.
