Yeah, in retrospect it seems painfully obvious. Due to most of my friends, I sometimes forget that other people too play video games.

Saw it last night at a 7pm release. Movie is 2hr30min. It didn't really drag, but in between high points, at the transitions, it did kind of hit me how long it was.

It was reeeeeallly good. Easily the best x-men movie ever made. Deadpool was good, but this doesn't get the benefit of cheap, easy laughs to make it seem better than it is.

    Just got back from Logan.

Definitely the best X-Men movie ever. Go see it now.

Loved Laura's character and the actress who plays her does a very good job.

The scene at the end when she cries over a dead Logan was heartbreaking.

It wasn't good. It was fucking awesome.

I thought the X-23 stunts in the2nd trailer were good. They were lame in comparison to her lightning quick ninja assassin bullshit moves when facing the Reavers in an extended fight.

I also thought the foot blades were going to be used in a really lame way. Needless to say it was anything but.

I actually don't think I was disappointed with a single thing, which is freaking rare these days. I saw a review on the TV this morning about how this isn't a movie for kids. That was a fucking understatement. I could see the writers loved to fucking use the word 'fuck' a little bit too fucking much. Fuuuuuck. I LOL'd after the tenth one in the first few minutes of the movie.

Are all of the X-men films out at present meant to have continuity? I'm not even sure if I've seen all of them, though I think I have. From what I've heard this movie is supposed to be the 'last' one, skipping ahead years from other movies, but... did all those other movies happen?

I mean, I'm remembering some weird continuity fuckery in these movies. Which I suppose is true to canon comics X-men... but it still means that I have no real idea of what's happened so far. Especially as some of the earlier movies came out as early as 2000, according to wikipedia.

Anyone able to summarize the timeline and major events (in spoiler tags, I guess)? If not I'll probably put in the time to do it myself via google, wiki, etc. But I assume a fan could do a lot better of explaining in a paragraph or three what's gone on so far.

    Looking forward to this one.

Yes, IMO, they are supposed to have as much continuity as the comics do. Meaning it's all over the place. I've seen attempts to create a timeline, but there is too many contradictory things for it to work properly.

I've also read somewhere that Logan was supposed to be all on its on as well.

Seeing as how Xavier accidentally killed all his students at Westchester at some point, I'm apt to agree.

I just got back from the movie and I have to say I was actually kind of disappointed in it.

I realize that this movie was meant to be the ending point for Hugh Jackman and his Wolverine franchise, but for all the hype I had put up for it when compared to it's prequels I thought it came across as kind of flat.

I thought the build up to the climax was pretty slow.

Logan spent more time driving around and getting beat up before he actually figured out what was going on.

X23 could have been given some more lines to say to make her character more memorable.

We never found out why mutants disappeared or what was so horrible about whatever Xavier had done.

I had hoped that Logan would finish his fight at the end, but instead he got himself impaled and saved by X23.

The best part of the movie was when Xavier saved the horses and got everyone invited to dinner.

All in all I can only say that I'm glad I saw the conclusion of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and I thought it was a flop.

Xavier killed all the kids at Westchester with one of his fits. And the head bad guy said they were the ones responsible for ending the mutants via inoculations, like polio, so they were the only ones able to make mutants.

I remember the polio comment but missed the other info.

yeah, the blonde reaver guy said, "You're looking at the guy who ended the mutant threat" or something like that.
And the bit with Xavier was at the end right before he got killed by X-24 in bed. He confessed that he remembered what happened at Westchester.

On that note. Am I the only one who thought Xavier might pull through at the last moment?

Saw the midnight release... Wow, just wow. Without a doubt, one of the best marvel movies. I would put it Past Iron Man 1...

    Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Logan ain't dead tho bitches. Not on my watch. He gonna rise on the third day and stumble through the background of Deadpool 2 and Infinity Wars on his way to Canada.

What was people's thoughts on what was killing Logan? Was it adamantium poisoning, or the 'mutant inoculation' he was getting through his copious alcohol consumption?

My money is actually on a virus designed to kill mutants. What's the chance of Logan and Xavier both suddenly dying at the same time? It's well within Transigen's ability and fits their theme of stopping mutant births

Man, if someone had told me a year ago that a Wolverine film would actually turn out to be good, I'd have called them a liar or an idiot. If they'd told me that I would watch it and actually be moved almost to the point of tears, I'd have laughed in their face. Really, really good - I think it's probably the best performance I've seen from Jackman (apart from maybe The Prestige), Stewart was obviously great, and Dafne Keen is a real find, absolutely spot on throughout the film.

Fun fact about her: apparently Jackman apologised to her mother for the scene where he tells her to "Shut the fuck up!", and she told him not to worry, that Dafne was calling him a cunt in Spanish.

Couple of mild criticisms: for the first half hour of the film, it really felt like the writers were so thrilled to have an R/15 rating that they overdid the use of 'fuck'. I'm not sure whether it was toned down as the film went on or whether it just felt more contextually appropriate, but there's a stretch at the start where it felt like every other word was some variant on 'fuck'. I also thought the sound editing was a little off, although this could be down to the old-ass cinema in my town - I couldn't always make out what people were saying.
More specifically and importantly, I thought Richard E Grant was wasted. Rice either needed to get more screentime, or a better actor to do more with such limited material. I'd also have appreciated a bit more clarity on what had happened to get the world to that state, although I understand the desire to make this more of a standalone film.

But yeah. Emotionally engaging, surprisingly funny, utterly brutal and just all round high quality. It's comfortably the best film in the X-Verse, a strong contender for best comic book movie ever, and just a damn good film by any standard.

Just me basically alone in the theatre at a 1045 am showing trying not to cry at the end there. That was fantastic.

Going to see it Thursday. From what I've read of reviews this movie looks like it's going to tick a lot of boxes for me in terms of what I like to see. Probably not all of them, but more than most movies. It's rare to find skilled child actors with non-trivial roles in films that aren't trying to pull punches.

    Can't wait. ^^

It ticked quite a few of mine. I don't know how many times I nearly pointed at the screen and said, "Yeah! That right there is what I wanted to see in this movie!"

I've been let down so many times with hero movies that I've just come to expect I was never going to see something that sparked a "Fuck yeah!" from me. Logan didn't let me down.

I was also expecting X-23 to be a typical 'kid' in a role that doesn't really fit in this kind of movie, a kid trying to act tough but failing because they're a kid and not at all intimidating in real life. Maybe she'd have a 'good' scene or two and that would be it. That was blown out of the water with her first fight scene.

If that's how you felt about the actual masterpiece that was "Logan", it's safe to say that you simply have shit taste.
