The third draft for Oathbringer hit 100% today, so soon it will be time for final revisions and publication!

In other news, the cover art was released.

Also, I disagree entirely that TWOK needed a chainsaw edit. It gets better every time I read it, and it fit so well with WOR and will, I presume, with OB.

I've been on a real Sanderson kick lately, so I'm pretty excited for Oathbringer. November cannot come fast enough.

Also, if you're like me and tempted to find fanfiction based on Sanderson's work to tide you over... don't. There is shockingly little, and I did not find anything remotely readable.

If anything, I wish it was longer. (Which is good since Oathbringer is supposed to be 500,000+ words!)

Surprised (and happy) to see Jasnah on the cover.

One of my favorite things about Mistborn: The Final Empire is the timeskip that cuts out much of the training montage. Sanderson has the clout now to publish anything he wants and it'll sell because he worked his ass off to build a following, and one of the advantages of that is that he can give the publisher a book as big as two sizeable books and have it published as a single book, but really - I would have thrown out all the interludes out of the Stormlight books. More is not always better.

They provide interesting clues to the overall plot. They're not always the most interesting until you read them again a book or two later. Suddenly they make so much more sense.

They can, but they also straight up kill the pacing at times, and I say this as one of the obsessive fools who reads every scrap of Cosmere info so I can exposit magic theories to any unfortunate souls that I can trick into listening. If I get particularly bored by one, I'll sometimes even skip it on the first read.

It's honestly a legitimate criticism, but he seemed to get better about it in book two, so hopefully they're all engaging in the third.

Tor.com is posting preview chapters of Oathbringer as a weekly serial:
    Prologue
    Chapters 1 - 3
    Chapters 4 - 6

What do you think? Worth reading now or waiting for the full book?

Having to read piecemeal is perhaps the one thing I hate most about fanfiction. I want to devour this like I devoured Radiance; in two days with no sleep.

I read the prologue and first three chapters, and the main thing I got from it was that I needed to reread the other two books and remind myself of all the details, so finding that out might be useful to some people.

Well, if there's an official countdown to the launch, perhaps Oathbringer warrants its own thread now?

I'll check out the chapters tomorrow, I'm tired as hell.
