Death Note trailer looks encouraging.

 

This may not be terrible though while I dig what little we got of their version of L, I'm really unsure about their Light.

 

What's your problem with him?

 

At the moment only his hair.

 

I have minor gripes with Light's hair, but it does look like the hairstyle a popular guy like him would have...in America, which is quite different from a similarly popular guy in Japan. Same with this version of Misa, who is a cheerleader that apparently smokes. Again, Americanized. It's not that unexpected really, and I have faith that Netflix has good material ready.

My biggest issue with the trailer was L. No slouch, no bags under the eyes, no vacant stare. We're clearly not dealing with the original here...which confuses me. L is a fan favorite, and not particularly affected by Japanese culture, so there's no good reason to make drastic changes. One could argue that since the dynamic between Light and L is an essential part of what constitutes him as a character demanded such a change; a different Light means a different L. Still...ugh, I just like the original one and wanted to see him on a live adaptation.

 

He seems really into angst and teenage drama.

 

No real chance for Ghost in the Shell imo. Leaving aside Scarlet Johanson, they turned it into a revenge drama, where the Major seeks vengeance for being turned into a cyborg against her will. Absolutely no respect for the source material where she was transferred to a cyborg body as a teenager for medical reasons. It doesn't particularly bode well.

 

Even as only a mild fan at best of Death Note, I'm having difficulty taking this adaptation very seriously. (Except for Ryuk, though that's just based on his voice.)

Ghost in the Shell is right out as far as I'm concerned.

If this is the kind of effort we're looking at for anime adaptations, I'd rather we just not have any and I'll keep enjoying the originals.

 

My only gripe on what we've seen of Death Note trailers so far is that, well, Light's actor isn't that attractive? I wonder how he'll pull the whole successful and in-control young man shtick that Light had going on.

Justice League Trailer #1

The only thing, that stuck with me was how incredibly dark the trailer looked.

 

I thought it looked pretty cool actually. Maybe it's just me but it looks like they might hint around at Bruce/Diana romance.

 

Not saying, that it looks incredibly bad, just that there seemed to be only one scene with actual sunshine for example.

Don't know why, but this bugs me.
'What are your superpowers again?'
'I'm rich.' instead of 'Money'

 

It would be cool if it was intentional and a lack of direct sunlight represented lack of Superman, only to have it finally appear in the film in a scene of his return.

 

Huh, I saw a small bit of football in the trailer. Looks like they're going to be implementing origin stories, somehow. Wonder if it'll be everyone or just the heroes we don't have individual movies for.

New Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer. Looks pretty good.

 

This trailer should be rated S for spoilers. Seriously, you get pretty much all of the film's major beats in 2 minutes.

 

I just looked up the cast and it looks like there won't be any Mary Jane or Gwen Stacy in this movie.

 

I don't care about Gwen or MJ in Spiderman coz Aunt May is the MILF material. Anyway, Spiderman becomes a handsome man again. Gone is the nerdy dude.
